Description of Private archaeological tour in Greece, 8 days

For anyone with even a passing interest in ancient history, a tour of the archaeological sites in Greece must be high on the bucket list. From the Acropolis of Athens, with its magnificent Parthenon temple, to the vast amphitheatre of Epidaurus to Delphi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the entire country and especially the Peloponnese, is dotted with well-preserved and fascinating ruins.

Begin in Tripoli, with visits included to the Corinth Canal of Isthmus, a masterpiece of engineering, and the spectacular rock formations of the Kapsia Cave, as well as some refreshing wine-tasting. Continue, via the monasteries of the Lousios Gorge and an interesting open-air museum dedicated to the science of hydromovement, to Sparta at the foot of Mt. Taygetos. Here you’ll learn about Spartan lifestyles, and how their legendary warriors fought, with an optional lesson in traditional Greek cuisine at your hotel too! Tour the Byzantine city of Mystras from Sparta, before day five, sure to be a highlight of the trip, leads you to Epidaurus and Mycenae. Arriving in the picturesque coastal settlement of Nafplio you can swim in the sea, and tackle the 999 steps leading to the Venetian castle.

Other memorable stops on the route to Athens include Ancient Olympia, where you’ll explore the ruins of the stadium and see the statue of Zeus, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world; and the temple of Apollo in Delphi, which you’ll visit from a base in a nearby seaside village.

You would struggle to find a more comprehensive tour of the miracles of Ancient Greece than this. Expect to return home as a veritable fount of knowledge.

This experience blew me away. It was very well organised, everyone had the right attitude- everything clicked right away. A rare find and I’m exceedingly grateful, pleased and just a tad smug to have been a part of this trip in such a glorious part of the world. Read full review

Too many great experiences to pick one.... the "hero" excursions were amazing, but so were all the little things. Warm bread at breakfast in Tripoli, lots of laughter as we cycled through cherry orchards, the peace and beauty of Galaxidi in the morning sunshine ... and successfully climbing all those stairs. We are also owners of the small city hotel that you will stay during your holidays which in addition with our office they recycle paper and plastic and transfers it to a recycling company in the industrial area. Plastics caps are gathered and donated to a local club that helps children with special needs by buying them special trolleys. At your arrival here you will be given a Travellers Code of Conduct, where you will get informed about how to apply maximum responsibility during your holidays concerning environmental and socio-cultural factors. Some examples are: Do not disturb animals, plants or their natural habitat, Leave only footprints. Don't litter. You may even pick up and properly dispose of litter left by others, Report any environmentally damaging activities you may witness.
We hope that our effort will push other companies, individuals or local authorities to contribute to this project and be part to our effort for a better environment for the next generations.

People

Choosing our holidays, you choose responsible holidays. As Mr Panagiotopoulos, founder and president of our company, was born and raised here, one of his biggest concerns is to secure that tourism will not affect negatively our area in ecological and socio-cultural way, and also that the locals will mostly benefit from your travel.

Our company which is the organizer and operator of this package is local-based and all our guides, drivers and employees are locals too, ensuring not only the economical benefit of our area but also your cultural benefit. In this trip, you will visit so many different places and you will always be surrounded by locals, experiencing the Greek way of living. But the most important thing for us, is that your presence here gives us a strong negotiation card for pressing the local authorities for the development of our area, such us constructing cycling streets in our city or finance and organize better our archaeological museums and sites. During our visit to the archaeological sites if it’s a close distance we propose to our guests not to use the car. Also, we have made our guests aware of the regulation in advance. For example, we advise them to shoot as many photos as they like but not to throw objects at the surrounding area or touch and sit in the monuments.
