Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

During our Birding tour tourists stay at guesthouses only, which we carefully chose. It’s important for us to choose guesthouses, owners of which are wildlife friendly and enjoy bird singing and nice views in their gardens. They make steps towards the very unique endemic birds and animals to preserve them. They put bird feeding boxes with seeds and water also plant big trees on the branches of which birds wave their nests. Guesthouse owners try to keep their cats home, especially in the period when birds teach their cubs to fly. This way they provide birds with safety and food especially in the severe winters.
Our bird watching tours are being arranged with our specialized ornithologists with more than 10 years of experience. Ornithologist tour leaders perfectly know every corner of Armenia and design tours to the most remote areas where one can observe birds in their natural atmosphere. For that we advice travelers to have good scopes and binoculars which make able to preserve birds from distance. Some birds which are being observed during our tour are listed in the Red Book. They are: Booted eagle (two eggs are laid once a year), Egyptian vulture (only one egg is laid per annum), lesser spotted eagle (nestles in forests, both large tracts and small parcels), European roller (eggs (3-6/clutch) are laid once a year), Griffon vulture (only one egg is laid per annum) and so on.
General and the main rule for our travelers is not to throw trash anywhere in the nature, not to pollute the environment. We encourage travelers to bring reusable bottles and not to use plastic plates.

People

Our trips are specifically made for those clients who want to take part in local friendly tourism which is beneficial both for travelers and for locals. Interaction with locals is important not for only to make benefit for locals, but also to add authentic flavor to trips. We strongly believe travelers enjoy chatting with locals, exchanging knowledge about traditions, cuisine, culture. Birding tour is designed to use only family run guesthouses in the regions, family run small restaurants serving ecologically clean food. In the restaurants travelers can also purchase some marmalade, jam, dry-fruits also fine handmade souvenirs from ecologically clean materials as sheep wool, wood, clay, different fabrics making by the locals.
In certain areas we use local guide service, who knows the area well enough to give right tips on how to be careful and attentive to watch different species of birds, without harming them. Due to unreachable location of some bird watching areas for standard cars, we use local jeeps to reach the spots. Our small rural communities make benefit and improve their way of life with help of travelers and local tour operators which design unique local friendly itineraries.
