Planet
CARBON REDUCTIONOur Atlantic Ring Route showcases the heart of Portugal’s natural and cultural beauty while embracing eco-friendly travel. As a circular cycling route in Central Portugal, the Atlantic Ring provides a scenic and sustainable alternative to more conventional forms of travel. By guiding small groups on gravel or touring bikes through the route’s varied landscapes—coastal paths, river valleys, and historical towns—we effectively minimize our carbon footprint and avoid the negative impacts associated with mass tourism.
Throughout the Atlantic Ring Route, cyclists pass through protected areas, such as the Mondego and Vouga river valleys, where they learn about local ecosystems and sustainable conservation efforts. We also emphasize water conservation by encouraging the use of biodegradable products, promoting reusable water bottles, and ensuring minimal waste along the journey.
ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
Central Portugal’s forests have faced substantial challenges, especially after the 2017 wildfires, which devastated the region. We are dedicated to reforestation efforts, especially in areas along the route, by supporting projects focused on planting resilient native species like chestnut and cork oak to replace fire-prone eucalyptus. In partnership with local municipalities, we raise awareness among cyclists about the importance of these reforestation initiatives and their impact on biodiversity and fire prevention.
To deepen this experience, our cyclists are invited to actively participate in the recovery of these ecosystems by planting seeds in designated areas. This hands-on activity fosters a deeper appreciation for the role of native flora and helps visitors understand the importance of reforestation in preserving Central Portugal’s landscapes.

LOCAL ECONOMYOur route design actively supports the local economy by promoting direct engagement with locally owned accommodations, restaurants, and artisans in each community along the Atlantic Ring Route. From the Atlantic coast to the inland cities of Coimbra and Viseu, we prioritize businesses that reflect the unique character of each location, ensuring that our impact is both sustainable and directly beneficial to the areas we visit.
Our local partnerships also bring travelers closer to Portugal’s authentic cultural heritage, connecting them with guides and residents who share stories about the region’s history, traditions, and way of life.
EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY, AND DIVERSITY
Every aspect of the Atlantic Ring Route is carefully curated to respect local cultures and environmental needs. Following the 2017 fires, which severely affected Central Portugal, we committed to helping these communities rebuild by creating economic opportunities that bolster regional resilience. Our tours contribute to ongoing reforestation projects and engage travelers in community-led initiatives that support recovery and sustainable growth.
Sustainable tourism is central to our philosophy, enabling us to protect Portugal’s diverse landscapes while helping rural areas flourish. By limiting group sizes and emphasizing eco-conscious practices, the Atlantic Ring Route offers an immersive, responsible journey that respects the social, cultural, and environmental richness of Central Portugal—ensuring it remains intact for future generations.
