1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
The dancing. Excellent teachers.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Learn Spanish. No one speaks English. Bring energy bars if you use them.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Not really.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
It was a challenge but I learned what I wanted. Doing a solo immersion was pretty
lonely.

Hey Devi! Thanks for trusting us for your bachata immersion. We're sorry you felt alone during the immersion. While our teachers and Trip Leader speak English, we can imagine that for solo travelers looking to connect with other local Colombians outside of our programming it can be challenging without the ability to communicate. All of our are staff are local dancers, from our instructors to our Trip Leader, and we make sure we take great care of them with the best compensation in the city (2x the norm), professional growth, and the ability to pursue their art without restriction. We will do a better job at sharing that with guests next time! Thanks again for your feedback, and keep on dancing :)

CARBON REDUCTIONTo ensure the air in Medellin remains clean and emissions are reduced, a comprehensive approach is adopted focusing on sustainable transportation, dietary options, and programming. Emphasizing human-powered transport, particularly walking, helps minimize reliance on fossil fuels.
Promoting vegetarian and vegan dietary choices not only supports health but also significantly lowers the environmental impact of food production.
By concentrating events and activities within Medellin or its immediate surroundings, the necessity for additional air travel, a major source of carbon emissions, is eliminated.
ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
In parallel, protecting the region's biodiversity is of paramount importance. This is achieved through meticulous selection and screening of accommodations that adhere to stringent environmental standards. These standards encompass a broad spectrum, including the management of various forms of pollution (solid waste, noise, and air quality) and efforts to reduce plastic usage. Furthermore, such accommodations are expected to contribute to the restoration of natural habitats in their vicinity.
Educating guests on how to diminish their environmental footprint is another critical step towards preserving the local ecosystem. Through these combined measures, significant strides are made in maintaining Medellin's environmental integrity, ensuring both its air quality and biodiversity are protected for future generations.

LOCAL ECONOMYOur accommodation is locally owned, as are the restaurants we take our guests to. Our entire team on the ground are locals, from guides to dancers.
We provide meaningful work for local Colombians who otherwise would have limited options to dance professionally. Most people we work with are between 20-25 years old. We pride ourselves on supporting our people make a living and gain skills that will last them their whole lives.
We provide travellers with a welcome pack before they come on what to expect in Medellin so they can respect the locale while also feeling part of it.
EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY
We provide income generating and employment opportunities for people who are often excluded or marginalized – women, people of color, and people who are below the poverty line. In fact everyone who works with us comes from low socioeconomic backgrounds and we pay them 2x market rate.
We support for social projects with direct or indirect benefits to the host community, particularly around using dance as a means to lift people out of poverty as well as raise their mental + emotional health.
