Planet
CARBON REDUCTION1. The lodges use both Solar energy and Hydro for when the Solar is weak especially in the rainy season.
2. Vegeteranian and Vegan food is available in all the lodges.
3. Food is locally sourced, except what is not produced in the areas.
4. Clients will spend lots of time outside the vehicles birding but the transfers between locations is by vehicle.
ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
1. Nkima lodge is restoring forest coverage near the lodge. The same for Turaco treetops.
2. Bakiga Lodge uses all the profits to provide safe water to communities around Bwindi forest.

4. We provide expert bird watching guides on this trip.
5. The Uganda wildlife authority uses some of the income from park entrance and activity fees to combat invasive species in the parks.
6. 20% of gate collections by Uganda Wildlife Authority goes directly to community in an initiative termed as revenue sharing. The revenue given to communities surrounding the park ensure that these communities protect the wildlife because they benefit directly from having them in their community.
7. You will visit the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary which is helping with a critical population of Rhinos that will eventually be re-introduced into the wild. This sanctuary is helping in conservation of these creatures.
8. You will also visit the Mabamba wetland which is run by the community who provide guiding and canoe services to see the shoebill. they have helped greatly in conserving and protecting the eco system for the Shoebill to exist there.
9. We are members of Uganda Conservation Foundation (UCF). UCF supports the Uganda Wildlife Authority to recover and manage protected areas, and reducing poaching and wildlife crime. They support wildlife populations through investing in key infrastructure, as ranger posts, marine ranger stations and veterinary labs. They believe that when ranger patrols and veterinary teams access hard-to-reach areas and treat wounded animals, wildlife populations stand the best chance of growth.
People
LOCAL ECONOMY1. Our guides on this tour are locals
2. We also hire community guides on the various local sites.
3. We encourage clients to take ‘porters’ when on a trekking safari. In return, the porters who are from the community earn the much needed money to supplement their farming incomes. They are the best conservationists of the forest because they directly earn from it.
4. Buhoma Haven Lodge is community owned.
5. Pakuba Lodge, Buhoma Haven Lodge, Lake Mulehe Safari Lodge are owned by Ugandans.
6. The lodges employ people from the local population. They train them and give them opportunities for growth and promotion. The people in turn understand and appreciate conservation and encourage their community members on the same.
7. We are members of Uganda Conservation Foundation (UCF). UCF works with park-adjacent communities to promote wildlife-compatible livelihoods and mitigate human-wildlife conflict. Engaging communities, schools and cultural institutions is key to building a sustainable legacy for conservation.
