Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.
Planet and people
The bird watching hotel is locally owned and employees are local people. We employ local birding guides and work closely with the national parks and visit their wildlife exhibitions for which there is an entrance fee.On this birding holiday, we also use locally owned restaurants and give visitors the option of visiting various charging attractions in the area.
Almost 50% of the bird watching tour cost goes in to the local community (hotel, restaurants etc.) Guests are taught some key word in Hungarian at the start of the trip.
We encourage landowners to view local wildlife & take up European grant aid, available for sensitive land management schemes where specific wildlife occur. All walks respect landowners and wildlife conservation. We work closely with the Bukk national Park and private forestry companies to ensure habitat protection for the White Backed Woodpecker and in the past 5 years we have seen a population increase.
Recycling and composting are both carried out by the bird watching hotel. Heating is turned off when office is not being used & we take great care not to waste water. We use public transport & car share.
