CARBON REDUCTIONCurrently we only use flights that require 100 minutes flying time and which are warranted because rail transport is not safe. Rail transport is over 10 hours.
In terms of the Nile Cruises we use Dahabiya which are wind powered craft.
In terms of transport to the Giza Plateau and environs, electric buses are used for all people movement inside the Giza Pyramid Precinct. They are provided from the Department of Antiquities and Tourism.
Hybrid taxes are used from Cairo to Saqqara and all internal transfers and requested prior to departure. Walking at the site is the main activity.
Vegetarian and vegan meals are offered for lunch each day from locally owned restaurants enroute from venues.
ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
The JW Marriott Hotel Cairo (the hotel we use) was the first hotel in Cairo to launch an advanced solar energy system, utilizing solar power to convert sunlight into electrical energy.
Marriott International's global "Serve 360" sustainability and social impact strategy, which includes goals to reduce carbon emissions and water intensity. The Cairo Marriott Hotel & Omar Khayyam Casino has received third-party sustainability certifications, such as the "Green Star Hotel" Program.

LOCAL ECONOMYLocal guides are employed as home hosts and their pay rates and certifications are sanctioned by the Department of Antiquities and Tourism. These are updated regularly and most recently in October 2025
When we have a 2 day and overnight visit, we use local hotels that are owned (as far as we can determine) and which we determined are not multinational owned.
In visiting local communities/villages in the Nile Delta, the experience includes attending as guests in local homes and undertaking bread baking and making lunch and interactive discussions about community and life.
The home visit also includes a visit to the local market where food is sourced that is used in preparing lunch. As well as this, there are visits to farms to see how they operate and to meet the farmers.
In addition to being paid an income, the local women are supplied with bread baking ovens. This enables them to make bread and sell it to local restaurants and individuals and is an income generating activity.
Our hosts are mostly those that are marginalised and disadvantaged women and their families.
We secure additional land for farmers through providing capital to lease larger plots that enable them to secure food and also to sell the surplus in the local markets.
EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY
All the staff employed are Egyptians.
Our ground operating partners (DMC) only manage booking and transport providers.
Our Meet the People itineraries and the hosts in Egyptian villages are paid directly by us (separate from the DMC). And yes they are paid according to the rates determined by Department of Antiquities and Tourism. These rates vary depending on the hosts certification level.
Our tours are suitable for people with limited mobility.
