Description of Cairo short break, Egypt
Enjoy a brief but memorable Cairo short break holiday with this five-day visit to the Egyptian capital. With a private, English-speaking guide leading the way, you’ll see the city’s most iconic landmarks, including the Great Pyramids of Giza, and the mysterious Sphinx. You’ll also take in the ancient capital of Memphis, along with the Djoser Pyramid in the Sakkara Complex.
A major highlight of this trip is sure to be spending a morning at the Grand Egyptian Museum, over 20 years in the making and just two kilometres from the pyramids. This is the largest archaeological museum in the world, housing the complete Tutankhamun collection as well as many artefacts never before seen on public display. After lunch you’ll head over to the Egyptian Museum, which remains the largest museum in Africa, and which continues to hold many of Egypt’s greatest archaeological treasures.
Your final full day is left free. You can shop Cairo’s famous bazaars, or take an optional tour to Alexandria, a three-hour drive away on the Mediterranean coast. Here you might visit the Roman catacombs, the Alexandria Library – one of the ancient world’s most prestigious, and the Qaitbay Citadel.
This is a tailor made tour, so you can add on more time if preferred, upgrade your hotel accommodation, or adjust the itinerary to your liking. This is a fascinating, thorough introduction to Cairo and its legendary archaeological wonders.

Great break with a packed programme in a great city of the world. Allow more time than the standard suggested itinerary if you want to do more than a whistle-stop tour of Cairo’s treasures. Read full reviewReviewed on 07 Mar 2022 by Andrew Topley

All our activities are designed to have minimal impact on the environment. All of our guides and suppliers work according to this concept. We advise our drivers in Cairo, Egypt not to use the horn even in case you do not have any client and this is a behavior and we need to improve it. We use trains because they have minimal impact on the environment and how to be an example to the others in Cairo and Giza. We keep advising travelers to conserve water and put tissues in the bin. In my opinion, you should start by yourself and advise the others to do like you. That is the best example to be followed.
We offer charitable organization for our clients to visit, like Masr Al Mahrusa Baladi. Masr Al Mahrusa Baladi Organization (NGO) tries to improve the quality of education in Egypt at governmental schools especially primary schools and taking care of genius students at governmental schools. Also, that organization helps in wiping out illiteracy in addition to bringing up and educating orphans.
During the trip, we give a brief description of Egypt from Pharaonic time until the time of the revolution in 1952. We also give out information about the Arabic language, local religions and appropriate dress (particularly for women).
