Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

With environmentally-friendly tourism at the forefront of our itinerary planning, this is a trip that perfectly encapsulates the cohesion of sustainability, luxury and adventure in Chile. From handpicked ethically-run accommodation, to a focus on lesser-visited natural wonders and sensitive cultural regions in need of physical and financial protection.

We also minimise domestic flights to just Lake District to the Atacama, and Atacama back to Santiago, across a mammoth three week itinerary. This is designed to cause far fewer emissions than a more traditional 'highlights' package trying to link all the famous sights of Chile (and often Argentina) in one flight-heavy carbon-emitting package. These flights cover distances that would otherwise take at least three days of driving and a distance of over 4000km by road.

And finally, our guides are trained in maintaining that all important balance between tourism and protecting the local environment. In essence to leave no footprint, and to leave with nothing but memories.

People

Our slow travel itinerary is designed so you can spend more time in each area, spreading the financial benefits of tourism wider and deeper into communities less visited than on a classic highlights or 'bucket list' package. You'll see places on this itinerary that 90% of international tourists won't make it to.

All of this is done with our community-focussed, highly-trained, well paid guides helping you tread the right path, Our local partners are one of the most ethically-focussed boutique ground agents currently operating in Chile, which is the primary reason we picked them from the dozens out there.

We also avoid international chain hotels or large cruise ships, prioritising independent local owner-run properties where possible. This keeps more money in the immediate area, and helps provides business and employment opportunities to local people, whilst providing us and our guests with a more genuine and enriching stay as part of our trips.
