CARBON REDUCTIONOur commitment to offering holidays with a positive impact is exemplified through our innovative approach and our ground breaking carbon scoring system, a world-first initiative enabling us to meticulously evaluate the environmental footprint of each tailor-made trip. Actively engaging with our suppliers, we encourage their participation in our carbon-scoring survey, fostering collaboration that yields valuable insights into unique carbon scores and identifies areas for sustainability excellence and improvement.
Transparency is paramount, and we extend it to our customers by individually assessing each trip, providing a personalised carbon score for your tailor-made holiday. This empowers you to make informed choices aligned with your values.
Our dedication to sustainability goes beyond scoring systems, influencing every aspect of your travel experience. Expect small, local hotels throughout such as the Kimal in San Pedro de Atacama which is constructed from local materials in a completely Atacama style. Our commitment to mindful dining shines through with the inclusion of properties who source food from as nearby as possible and completely in country. In each destination, the hotels can easily cater for vegetarians and vegans. We can also recommend restaurants such the stylish Ali Pacha vegetarian restaurant in downtown La Paz.
ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
The remote journey from San Pedro de Atacama to Uyuni is designed to offer a unique experience in a stark altiplano region. LOCAL ECONOMYWe strive to deliver travel experiences that captivate customers while actively fostering the well-being of the regions. Collaborating with dedicated partners in Chile and Bolivia, we ensure a positive impact on local communities by employing natives in both administrative roles and as tour guides. Shared values emphasise the belief that tourism should seamlessly integrate into the cultural and environmental fabric, becoming a force for good.
Noteworthy accommodations, such as the Kimal hotel in San Pedro de Atacama and the Luna Salada in the Salar de Uyuni, epitomise this ethos. These establishments are meticulously constructed using locally sourced materials, with the Luna Salada uniquely crafted predominantly from salt, blending seamlessly with its natural surroundings. Inside the hotel textiles are woven by local communities, showcasing a sense of place and cultural authenticity.
Despite their remote settings, both hotels prioritise sourcing food locally, contributing to the regional economy and ensuring that the financial benefits of tourism stay within the respective countries. This dedication underscores our approach to responsible and enriching travel experiences.
EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY
Our partners take pride in collaborating with local communities to source the necessary labour force and organic produce for use in hotels and on excursions. Committed to transformational travel, they seek innovative ways to ensure these communities not only profit fairly from visitors but also empower them to work sustainably. Most food products are sourced from these communities, integrating them into the supply chain.
The accommodation on this trip, Le Reve in Santiago, Kimal in San Pedro de Atacama, Luna Salada in Uyuni and Casa Grande in La Paz are either independently owned or part of a local hotel group.
