CARBON REDUCTION

We opt for train travel to reduce carbon footprint and encourage slow travel in a destination. To reduce further carbon footprint transportation during the trip is also carefully selected to not overuse transport when not needed. On this trip for example the focus during the trip is more on guided walks inside the towns.

We opt for small boutique hotels which need less space and less cutting of trees to make space for big hotels. Also small guesthouses are more open to proper care of food waste and are more aware of their footprint.

Food on the trip is often chosen from small local restaurants selection to which the food is local sourced from products coming from the nearby local markets. There are also local restaurants around that provide vegetarian meals.

We advise on carbon reduction and reducing impacts to travellers always before the holiday starts through the pre-trip information.

ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE

On this program we strive to preserve and protect delicate routes and natural habitats in order to not enhance mass-tourism in remote areas and minimise the effects of our presence in such areas. We therefore choose routes for the program that are specific for tourism and walking and avoid exploring remote areas to protect and conserve remote areas.

Clients are informed about their best ways to travel responsibly in regards to excess waste carried during travels, such as the over-use of plastic bottles which can be minimised with tips given prior to and during a programme. On this trip the use of wooden furniture is prioritised over plastic and awareness of architectural design with a low negative impact.

Travellers receive a pre-trip information with responsible highlights that includes reducing impacts on nature, specifically in regards to impacts of walking routes and the importance of that.

LOCAL ECONOMY

We offer the selection of a fair services trade by choosing:

- Local small boutique hotels of the area
- Local guides
- Local chocolatries and small restaurants

In this way we give importance to the use of both local and small services opting for a tourism that is local, friendly and social sustainable. Mainly those that highlight the gastronomy and old history of the area. Enjoying local gastronomy and history means to truly connect and engage with such smaller local services.

Support of local culture: On the trip you will also visit small shops around to be able to get final souvenirs back home, mainly passing to those workshops that highlight local gastronomy. Gastronomy is one of the areas wonderful highlight and gives the traveller a great experience to take a small gifted chocolate box back home.

The choice for the programmes goes for quality over quantity providing only small organised programmes given the travellers a more authentic local experience to fully engage during the trip, as does it give local guide or workshops a better way to give a quality local service.

EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY

We only support local guides that are from the actual areas and have a local knowledge and nature knowledge of these areas. We furthermore support local guides from within the smaller communities and follow fair standards of the areas.

We nurture a diverse strategy regardless of gender, nationality or orientation.
