Description of Copenhagen to Oslo small group holiday

Join a welcoming small group tour full of opportunities to discover the beauty and landmarks of four popular European cities. You’ll get underway in Copenhagen, Denmark's trendy and cycle-friendly capital, where the streets are crowded with bikes, not cars.

Copenhagen is one of Europe’s most dynamic and picturesque capital cities. From Tivoli Gardens, with the world’s oldest wooden rollercoaster, to the offbeat Christiania neighbourhood and the pastel-painted waterfront houses, this city is a delightful place to spend a few days.

In Gothenburg, a free day to explore might see you taking in the renowned Feskekörka fish market, the old docks, or the opera house. You can sample Swedish delicacies including haggebulle, a tasty cinnamon bun, or meatballs with lingonberry jam. You'll take the ferry over to the delightful Vrango Island in the Gothenburg archipelago, renowned for its beaches and nature reserves. In the summer, you may take to kayaks to explore the coast - in the winter, perhaps indulge yourself with a floating sauna.

Finally, the tour reaches the Norwegian capital, Oslo, where, time permitting, a guided walking tour will introduce to this quirky destination that is becoming well-known for its bar, café and creative scenes. On your last night of a memorable trip, you can toast your fellow travellers over a traditional fish dinner. Skal!

Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

When travelling through Scandinavia we use public transport where possible, which is the most sustainable way of moving around. On this trip we travel mostly by train, but we also take a public bus on the stretch between Gothenburg and Oslo. Not only is this a very comfortable way of travelling, this journey also follows a very scenic route and offers a great opportunity to strike up conversations with the local people.

All our leaders are passionate about responsible travel, so our messaging around the importance of environmental issues is always consistent. Our leaders make the effort to teach our passengers about recycling in Scandinavia, which is well ahead of the game in comparison to other European nations. We hope some of our passengers will take these ideas home with them to help improve the environment where they live.

We supply our customers with canvas bags to use throughout the trip and to encourage them to say no to plastic ones. We also suggest the use of refillable water bottles as tap water all over Scandinavia is drinkable.

On our trips we use locally owned and run businesses, such as hotels and restaurants. This way we are able to support the local Scandinavian economy instead of large international chains and corporations.

People

This trip is run entirely by our European Destination Management Company (or DMC) and they share our values when it comes to responsible travel. The trip is run by local leaders from the region, who are employed and paid in accordance with current industry standards. We also employ local guides where feasible, for instance in Copenhagen when we take a cycling tour around the city centre and to the enclave of Christiania.

We make sure our small groups take nothing but memories (and photos!) and leave nothing but footprints. This small group tour has a maximum of 12 participants, meaning that we have a low impact on the communities we visit and are able to ensure that we don’t disrupt or contribute to the displacement of local people.

Our small groups also allows us to stay in family-run hotels and pensions that cannot benefit from coach tours and other mass tourism due to their limited size. We also support small restaurants and cafes.
