If you are looking for a 2 week roundtrip that encompasses Costa Rica's top spots across both coastlines in one itinerary, look no further. Ranging from volcanoes to cloud forests, Caribbean influences to pristine beaches, our team of Costa Rica experts are here to put together a tailor made trip based on the bits we know work best, so that you still experience the adventure and authenticity of your destination, but with the hassle taken out of it. We also offer the flexibility of self drive, or transfers, depending on your preference.
From sprawling San Jose to reggae and relaxation in the Caribbean, we recommend kicking back on the sandy beaches with a tropical cocktail or visiting Cahuita national park.
Journeying from your first beach break to volcanic landscapes, today you will make the move to world famous Arenal volcano in La Fortuna, one of the best photo backdrops in the country.
No holiday here is complete without a visit to the cloud forest of Monteverde, where our expert local guides will help you discover the incredible flora and fauna shrouded in ethereal mist that makes Costa Rica such a magical destination.
At your final stop enjoy a serene beach stay complete with breath taking views of the coast and an incredible animal sanctuary visit where you will learn more about the nitty gritty of animal conservation in the eco hub that is Costa Rica.
This holiday also celebrates the fact that Costa Rica has two coastlines, one on the Caribbean and the other on the Pacific, and you get to visit and stay in both, enjoying the Creole culture around Puerto Viejo on the Caribbean and the vast swathes of beach on the Pacific, each seascape topping and tailing this wonderful Costa Rican journey. It also highlights Costa Rica as a top eco-conscious destination, absolutely perfectly suited to the responsible traveller.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
So many memorable elements that it is hard to pick one! The wildlife was just amazing in almost every location. - Tortuguero was fabulous, our guide was brilliant and the monkeys were amazing, and came so close (even onto the breakfast table to pinch my bread roll) - the only downside was the rain all day every day and no way of drying clothes.- The Cahuita national park tour was a particular highlight with the most wildlife and close proximity. - Manuel Antonio accomodation Villas Nicolas was incredible with monkeys putting on a show each morning to view from the fabulous terrace.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Think about what you really want to do before you go - we thought we would want chill out time but went looking for more action and fun on those days! Also think about the distances between locations - we spent 7 hours travelling between Samara and Manuel Antonio! Also it is quite expensive to eat and drink out every night. And lastly be well prepared for rain even if you think you are going in the “dry season”!!
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes, the wildlife felt natural and we were encouraged not to get too close or take anything. All locations encouraged reducing use of electricity and protecting sanitation systems.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Our trip was absolutely incredible - despite 10 days of rain, rain and more rain, we still loved it in Costa Rica and were highly impressed with the organisation of our trip.
Sadly, one part of the trip did not live up to the rest - Villas Playa Samara. We were moved to this hotel due to complaints in the original one and had to pay extra but it was really disappointing. Lots of issues experienced at the hotel and the staff were not very helpful (except one fabulous waiter - Christian) and food was not good. We had to go out every night after eating in the hotel on the first night and cabs were very expensive (12 dollars each way). The pick ups for tours did not go smoothly at this one location (whereas every other place they were so punctual and efficient) due to the hotel not allowing pick up vehicles to pass the main security gate and failing to let us know they were outside at the end of the very long drive. It simply did not fit with the trip at all as a large impersonal hotel and we felt like second class citizens - it seemed that most people were all inclusive and we felt were treated more favourably. Had a final significant issue as we checked out as they would not refund our 200 dollar deposit back (despite no issues or reason to keep it and we had to pay our bill separately) as they said I was using a different card - I wasn’t and had evidence in my account of the payment - we still don't have it back. Such a shame as every other hotel was
absolutely amazing, small and cosy, with wonderful staff. I’m sad to have to comment about the Samara part of the trip negatively and I really want to give the holiday 5 stars as it was amazing but I have to drop a star for that part. Despite this, I would still highly recommend the tour operator, thank you!

Costa Rica is a well known destination for eco-tourism. Described as the 'greenest and happiest nation', the country now generates 98% of of its electricity from renewable resources. There is a lot that the rest of the world should learn from the Costa Rican approach to sustainability. For this reason, it is great to promote meaningful travel in Costa Rica, immersing in the incredible nature, particularly for the younger generation. All of our accommodation in Costa Rica reflects this dedication to sustainability, complete with commitment to renewable energy. For instance, we supply accommodation that has been recognised with certifications for Sustainable tourism by the Costa Rican authorities. They pride themselves on promoting "natural and cultural experiences hand in hand with the integral growth of the community". They go the extra mile by proudly posting yearly sustainability reports on their website. Also, there is the opportunity to stay in aptly named 'ecolodges' and 'wildlife refuges.' For instance the eco-lodge we use in La Fortuna are committed to protecting local wildlife, recycling, environmental education for the local community, energy saving and the use of biodegradable products at the eco-lodge.
This trip is an exciting and active adventure. For this reason, it includes lots of 'human powered transport' and movement. This includes rafting in Turrialba, kayaking at Arenal volcano, surfing in Samara, ziplining and walking through Monteverde and Manuel Antonio.
Environment and wildlife-
Costa Rica is one of the most biodiverse regions on the planet. The plethora of flora, fauna and wildlife is the primary attraction to tourists. On this trip this is evident across national parks Monteverde and Manuel Antonio where many people go to spot sloths and monkeys. For this reason, it is even more important to hold strong values of animal welfare and protection. We’re serious about this animal welfare stuff and want to do everything we can to improve the welfare of animals in tourism. We’ve therefore teamed up with animal welfare experts, ANIMONDIAL. Their vision is to minimise tourism’s impact on animals, natural environments and the people that depend upon them. They’ve helped us to improve the welfare standards of our trips even further and create long-term plans to support animals in tourism. Best of all though, we’ve worked together to create an Animal Welfare in Tourism Starter Kit for small businesses, to help other travel companies improve their animal welfare standards too. Furthermore, these national parks are also conservation centres dedicated to nature recovery.
This trip contributes to the maintenance of areas of outstanding natural beauty by promoting national parks and forests like the cloud forests of Monteverde and Manuel Antonio, which have entrance fees that feeds back into the economy and wildlife protection, and use local guides who are experts in the local flora and fauna.
We also offer tools to our customers to encourage sustainability, carbon reduction and caring for the environment both at home and away. These include 'zero waste while travelling: our top tips'.

The hotels that we work with in Costa Rica follow in the same ethos as the rest of the accommodation we offer- small, boutique style special stays that are locally owned, authentic and full of character. Costa Rica boasts some of the best examples of this policy. We maximise local economic opportunities further by using only locally owned excursion companies where you will meet and learn from expert local guides throughout the trip, including in national parks and when learning to surf.
One of the key aspects of our itineraries is that we work with local partners who are based in Costa Rica in order to provide the most authentic insight into everyday life in the destination, and divert from the usual tourist trail (which is important when considering the mitigation of environmental degradation in tourist hotspots) but also supports the country's economy even before our customer has touched down as the local partner helps to develop their itinerary.
They are committed to sustainability and protecting the flora and fauna. They have achieved the highest sustainability accreditation possible in country as part of the Certification for Sustainable Tourism Program , this is based on complying with a sustainable model of natural, cultural and social resource management. This program combines sustainable tourism, good management practices, the environmental and social impacts of services. Our partner provides documentation to our customers in a welcome pack when they arrive in Costa Rica detailing how best to treat the flora and fauna, tips on social norms like dress codes and photography.
Costa Rica is renowned as one of the most LGBTQ+ friendly destinations in Latin America.
