CARBON REDUCTIONS

In terms of the Nile Cruises we use Dahabiya which are wind powered craft. For transport between the airport in Cairo and the hotel, and when disembarking to sites on your Nile Cruise, we use hybrid taxis that combine electric and diesel energy.

Additionally, an electric rail link, will be completed to all the major attractions such as the Giza Pyramids and most other sites by 2026. We will then be using the rail link for guest movements to sites

Currently we only use flights that require 100 minutes flying time and which are warranted because rail transport is not safe. Rail transport is over 10 hours. In the next 12 months a high speed electric rail link will be operational between Cairo, Luxor and Sham el Sheik. Once that is operational we will be using that transport instead of internal air flights.

Vegetarian and vegetarian meals are offered for lunch each day both at the Marriott and also on the Nile Cruise.

ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE

The JW Marriott Hotel Cairo (the hotel we use) was the first hotel in Cairo to launch an advanced solar energy system, utilizing solar power to convert sunlight into electrical energy.

Marriott International's global "Serve 360" sustainability and social impact strategy, which includes goals to reduce carbon emissions and water intensity. The Cairo Marriott Hotel & Omar Khayyam Casino has received third-party sustainability certifications, such as the "Green Star Hotel" Program.
