In terms of the area - it’s wonderful! Visiting the “Ghost City” of Ani on the Turkish/Armenian border. The visit to Gobelki Tepe! Read full review

Two sites on the itinerary not seen with no acceptable explanation why. One hotel changed through no fault of the host company but the alternative was not as good and in a area near no sites. Read full review

Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

Though a minimal amount of time is spent within nature during this trip, we have worked hard to ensure it is still environmentally-friendly in any area possible. We ensure our guides are mindful about protecting the environment in which you travel, and they do a fantastic job of promoting having a minimum impact whilst travelling, whether in natural or urban environments.

The logistics of this trip have also been designed with the environment in mind. This trip features travel primarily by shared vehicle rather than less eco-friendly means of transportation. This is just one small but significant factor that we consider across all tours to all destinations, not only benefitting local areas, but the whole world, too.

To you, our traveller, we ask you to be vigilant about disposing of your waste and recycle where possible. During your trip you will be asked if you have any waste to dispose of when it is a suitable time in the itinerary. This ensures we make it as easy as possible for our travellers to be eco-friendly whilst traveling. We strongly advise all travellers to bring a reusable water bottle - this is an easy way to save plastic waste and is detailed in our ‘What to Bring’ trip notes for all trips to all destinations. Your guide will remind you where and when you can fill up your re-usable water bottle. Similarly, we ask you to be environmentally-conscious in other areas across your trip, for example using climate control and electricity sparingly where possible.

People

As regular travellers, one thing that never ceases to amaze and inspire us is the kindness and generosity of local people. We firmly believe that they are who make these places special, and that they should benefit from our visit. Therefore, as first preference, we use local guides and drivers offered fair pay and working conditions, use locally-sourced supplies, and visit locally-owned accommodations, shops and eateries.

This tour supports many important cultural and historical sites, including museums, churches, palaces, castles, tombs, archaeological sites and more. The support that responsible travel provides these types of locations with is vital in their continued running, and with that, the preservation and exhibition of their priceless cultural and historic wonders.

This trip also offers a great deal of support to local businesses which far exceeds even the good degree that all of our tours provide. This itinerary includes stops at a number of markets, a traditional weaving village and specific culinary locations. These stops don’t only support the businesspeople themselves – they support local economies and communities as a whole. When done responsibly, tourism can have a great and positive impact on communities, and this is just one example of how it can do so.
