Electric fly-drive Norway holiday, Fjords experience
Description of Electric fly-drive Norway holiday, Fjords experience
One of the highlights of this lovely electric self drive holiday in the Norwegian fjords is bound to be a two-hour cruise on the Naeroyfjord from Flam to Gudvangen. Inscribed on UNESCO’s list of World Heritage Sites, this branch of the Sognefjord is without question one of the most beautiful fjords in Norway.
You’ll pick up your hire car on arrival in Oslo, continuing northwest to Flam, where you can take a trip on the Flamsbana, renowned as being among the most scenic railway journeys in the world. This area is so extravagantly attractive that tourism has surged, and levels of air pollution during cruise season are comparable with a major city. In an emissions-free vehicle, you’ll be doing your bit to make a difference.
Leaving Flam, take your time making your way to Bergen, just 170km further west on the coast. The colourful wooden houses on the historic wharf are immensely photogenic, and you can also take the funicular to the summit of Mount Floyen for sweeping panoramas. Returning to Oslo a day or two later, you can take the Tysse-Eidfjord road to appreciate the majesty of the Hardangerfjord.
Your trip is tailor made, so you have a degree of flexibility around your itinerary and your accommodation. Flights from the UK are included in the price, for convenience. Norway has an excellent and growing EV charging network, so newcomers to electric cars can have as much confidence driving here as those who own one at home.

CARBON REDUCTION Self-drive holidays using electric or hybrid vehicles are by their very nature low carbon. We provide our travellers with the information and support they need to travel confidently by EV and wherever possible we use accommodations that have charging facilities. Around 50 percent of our office staff use public transport (bus and train) and cycle to work. Management encourages this with their introduction of the cycle to work scheme which offers subsidised cycle ownership. ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE This tour has been designed for an electric vehicle (EV). EVs cause less noise pollution in natural landscapes, which is beneficial to wildlife. They also don’t emit the harmful fumes that can contribute to poor health through damaging air quality. We and our local ground agents know the importance of basic responsible principles such as appropriate waste disposal, not wasting water, turning off lights when leaving the room in hotels, not replacing towels and bedding daily etc. We will always aim to work with hoteliers and suppliers that want to help our travellers minimise their environmental footprint. As a company we have introduced responsible practices in our UK office including paper, cardboard, aluminium and plastic recycling. Our local agents are also keen to stress to visitors the importance of not straying from marked trails at historic sites, so that they may be maintained for future generations.People
LOCAL ECONOMYBy the very nature of life in Norway virtually all services are provided by local people so that our holidays have a significant financial benefit to the communities they visit.
Wherever possible, all hotels on the itinerary are locally owned, managed and run.
EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY
Fair salaries are paid to all employees and regular training is provided to support future career development.
Only local guides who are aware of local customs and cultures are employed which not only keeps the funds paid to staff within the local community but also helps avoid any potential cultural clashes between visitors and locals.
