Our Morocco family holidays

Riads with gorgeous pools, souks piled with spices and kasbahs like something out of a fairy tale: our Morocco family holidays are filled with riches – and the natural landscape is one of them. If you’re up for an adventure, there are snowmelt rivers to raft, an ocean to surf, and dunes to climb. This country is a wonderful place to take your children, welcoming and fascinating, with good weather in the school holidays, and plenty of easy to reach sights. Our family holidays in Morocco won’t just be an education for your kids; they also help Moroccan children stay in school, by funding accommodation for girls in the Atlas Mountains.

Morocco family holiday highlights

Where to go on a Morocco family holiday

Kickstart your family holiday in the city of Marrakech. Find yourself in its magical Jemaa El-Fna Medina, where vendors calling you one way and another, and where you can wander among drummers and acrobats, multicoloured spice and fruit filled stalls, all overlooked by the minarets of the magnificent Koutoubia Mosque. Not far away is the coastal town of Essaouira, a traditional fishing town and ancient walled city with a wonderful medina, but also lively port. It’s also not far to reach the Atlas: the magnificent divide between Sahara and sea. The Sahara Desert is further away, but you can check out the Draa River Valley en route on your drive.

Adventurous family holidays in Morocco

Camping and caravanning take on a whole new meaning in Morocco. Join a caravan of camels with the Berbers, climb up the giant dunes at sunset and sandboard down then afterwards. On our adventurous family holidays in Morocco, the days are exciting, but the nights are too. Your camelteer guides will not only lead the way through what feels like totally unnavigable terrain but also set up their traditional Berber camps for a night under stars that explode in all directions across the Sahara. You’ll fall asleep to ancient stories and songs that float away across the dunes. By using Bedouin guides on our family adventures, your holiday is benefitting local communities and helping them to preserve their culture.

Cultural family holidays in Morocco

Our cultural family holidays in Morocco will be a great education for your children, as well as being a total blast. You can taste a rainbow of culinary delights: bright green mint, delicate pink Turkish delight, freshly squeezed orange juice. Next, be bombarded by the souks, where you can see traditional leatherwork, silverware and textiles. Best of all, you can meet the Berbers, the Indigenous people of Morocco and some of the best travel guides you will get when travelling as a family. Warm and welcoming, hospitality and landscape are important parts of their culture. Be guided by them through the Atlas Mountains or across the Sahara and learn a few lines of Berber. A good starter is always thank you. Shukrun in Arabic is well known, but Ake Issrebeh Moulana in Berber gets top marks.

Travelling with teenagers to Morocco

Our family holidays to Morocco can be a perfect fit for older children. The country is a great destination for older children, with plenty of thrilling activities and cultural experiences. We have years of experience designing gorgeous trips that make teenagers tick: think hot air ballooning in Marrakech, rock climbing in Todra Gorge, a film studio visit at Ouarzazate or a cooking class with a local family. Joining a small group on one of our holidays for teenagers means that everyone has a bit more space, but you can come together afterwards to compare notes on your hammam experiences afterwards.
