Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.
Planet
Carbon ReductionOn this trip, we spend three days walking and one day sea kayaking—both fantastic low-carbon ways to explore our surroundings. These activities allow us to immerse ourselves in nature, experience the landscape up close, and tread lightly on the environment as we go.
We offer two airport arrival transfers—one in the morning and one in the afternoon—to accommodate a range of flight times. By limiting it to just two shared transfers, we’re able to reduce our carbon footprint while still ensuring a smooth arrival experience for our customers.
The hotel offers a unique farm-to-table experience, with its own large vegetable garden producing organic fruit and vegetables used in the meals. There's also a small holding with a variety of animals including mules, horses, chickens, peacocks, pheasants, and sheep—adding a rural charm to your stay. Meals are seasonal, locally sourced (often straight from the garden), and vegetarian and vegan options are always available. It's a great place to enjoy wholesome, homegrown food in a natural setting.
As a travel company we're acutely aware of our impact on the environment. Each one of our tours displays a carbon footprint, and we're working to reduce our emissions by regularly reviewing our itineraries and embracing lower-impact styles of travel such as trains, public buses or walking – which aren't just better for the planet, but we believe offer a more enjoyable and authentic travel experience too. We're a Certified B Corp that's committed to creating unforgettable adventures while protecting our planet for future generations.
Environment and Wildlife
The accommodation reduces its carbon impact by making use of local recycling facilities and composting kitchen waste, which is then used as fertiliser in their own vegetable garden. Rainwater is harvested to water the kitchen garden.
We strive to support nature and biodiversity through protection and regeneration projects, and for every customer that travels with us we make a donation to Rewilding Britain and Cool Earth.
We encourage customers to avoid single-use plastic on tour, and our leaders give advice on refill points each day. Where tap water isn't safe to drink we recommend Water-to-Go bottles, a filtration bottle allowing you to drink water from any source.
People
Local EconomyStaying at The Rabbit—a locally owned and family-run accommodation in a traditional Amalfi village—directly supports the local community by contributing to the regional economy. Choosing this kind of stay over larger international hotel chains helps ensure that income remains in the area, benefiting small businesses, local employees, and nearby suppliers. Additionally, basing ourselves in a small, authentic village rather than one of the more tourist-heavy coastal centres helps to distribute tourism more sustainably across the region.
Our leaders are the heart of tours. They bring passion and unrivalled knowledge of the destinations and communities that we visit. Their guidance ensures we observe the cultural norms in a destination, they act as a bridge between travellers and the local community and ensure that tourism is a positive experience for both host and guest. We believe in supporting local; staying in locally-run hotels, exploring markets, buying snacks from street vendors, and by doing this we add money to the local economy and enhance our connection with the local community.
Employment, Inclusivity and Diversity
Between 90% and 100% of the guides we employ on this trip are local, offering guests authentic insights and a strong connection to the region. The hotel is family-run, with parents and their two daughters working together to take care of everything — creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere throughout your stay. This trip is LGBTQ+ friendly and inclusive. Please note, however, that it may not be well suited for those with limited mobility due to the nature of the terrain and activities involved.
We believe that diversity is to be celebrated and as a Certified B Corp we're committed to championing equity and inclusion throughout our entire supply chain. We believe that an inclusive approach is essential, and that the best results occur when contributors have different opinions, experiences and backgrounds to bring to the table.
