1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Have become a real fan of Saunas - even the cold plunge after. The last night smoke sauna (no - it is not smoky - just quite hot followed by a plunge in a cold creek fed pool - along with the most delicious salmon we've ever had after (and we are from the Washington State which says a lot). It was slowly cooked on a wood plank next to a fire. The whole trip was memorable - a real experience of rural Finland - no big hotels, no mass-produced food - just rural quiet Finland.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Keep an open mind and try everything you can. Trip is intended for people with some mobility. Did not plan on doing the bike transfers between sites if you have balance problems - check with the site on this. They are very accommodating. My Finnish is about 6 words - Minna is fluent in several languages so don't let language be a barrier.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes. All the sites were very conscious of recycling, no waste, and conserving the environment. Minna sends information on this before the trip.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Absolutely marvelous time on the Sauna/Food trip in Nurmes Finland July12-19. Could not have enjoyed the trip more. An experience to be treasured!!!! Food was exactly what we were hoping to get - real, authentic - and so were the baking lessons. My husband had a little more limited ability than he thought
he had but he still very much enjoyed the week. All three sites/hostesses were wonderful especially Minna at Majatalo Pihlajapuu. Baking lessons were very
enjoyable and educational - I learned quite a bit. Won't single out anyone - everyone was really good!!!
