CARBON REDUCTION
For this trip an international and domestic flight is required.
Our airport and excursion transfers are in one shared EV for the group.
We provide a conscious packing list for our guests.
Vegetarian and vegan food is available - although we also offer some sustainably sourced local fish and meat. Our kitchen operates a zero waste policy and has a robust recycling scheme in place.

ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
Our accommodation is a locally owned cabin set on the edge of Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park which is a large protected wilderness. The Western Lapland’s fell, forest, and mire ecosystems is protected through strict rules that prevent disturbance, seasonal access limits, and a zoning system that defines where visitors may travel. It also regulates fishing, hunting, and reindeer husbandry, and is recognised for its commitment to sustainable tourism through its CETS accreditation. We work with local guides who are certified wilderness guides, passionate about protecting their environment, wildlife and conservation. Our guides show us where we are allowed to snowshoe so as to protect vegetation, wildlife, and sensitive zones and enforce Leave No Trace principles adapted for winter conditions (e.g., staying on durable surfaces, avoiding wildlife disturbance).

LOCAL ECONOMY
Our Finland retreat takes place at a locally owned and run nature ranch and family-owned eco-lodge. We are committed to supporting the local economy and working with small enterprises rather than the big hotels operating in the area.

EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY
Around 80% of the people involved in delivering this retreat are Finnisg All local staff are employed on fair wages with benefits. We bring a small team from abroad—our yoga teacher, chef and retreat host—but the majority of roles are local. This trip is LGBTQ+ friendly and led with inclusivity in mind. While the retreat is not suitable for guests with significant mobility challenges, we are committed to growing our accessibility strategy. We have been a certified B Corp since 2023.
