Hunza and Skardu cultural tour, Pakistan
Description of Hunza and Skardu cultural tour, Pakistan
Join a band of fellow adventurers, and a brilliant local tour leader, for a two-week Hunza and Skardu cultural tour in Pakistan that reveals the fascinating and warm character of the region and its people.
You’ll enjoy wandering the bazaars, meeting artisans and craftspeople, and seeing a host of renowned historic sites from ancient forts to the Chaqchan Mosque. Learn secrets of the Silk Road, and meet local villagers as you walk around their streets, perhaps even being invited into their homes for tea with your guide handling the translating.
The scenery is absolutely magnificent, from lakes to desert and glaciers, and staggeringly high, snowcapped mountain peaks. Among the many highlights of this trip are opportunities to take short hike to viewpoints ahead of the sunset.
But above all it is the welcoming nature of the people you’ll meet that you’ll remember from this two-week trip. You’ll meet local historians, stay in family-owned guesthouses and eat in restaurants that seldom see tourists. You’ll enjoy traditional homecooked meals, maybe take part in a meditation or yoga session, and perhaps attend a spring festival if you’re there at the right time. Warn your relatives in advance: this is one of those holidays you’ll still be raving about for years to come.

1 Reviews of Hunza and Skardu cultural tour, Pakistan

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
So many memorable experiences but - the visits to the villages, meeting local
people and learning about the local way of life in Baltistan and the Hunza
- the journeys along the Karakoram Highway and the overland return along the
Indus Valley. - the trek to Passu glacier - the wonderful mountain views
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Enjoy being well looked after by your guide (we had Muneer) and the drivers who
know the roads. We were able to visit places that would have been very difficult if
travelling independently. Tip: remember to put sunscreen protection on your lips. I didn’t and my lips got a bit chapped.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Definitely benefited local people. Muneer handled our kitty and made sure we tipped appropriately at each visit where we had a guide. The operator place great
emphasis on sustainability and education and support projects promoting this. It’s a young company and very progressive in its thinking and planning.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Everything was superbly managed. There was excellent communication before our
arrival and during our stay. Hina set up a WhatsApp group for us with our guide
Muneer which worked well. Every day was different and memorable. Sometimes
there had to be changes to the itinerary due to factors beyond control such as a
roadblock due to a landslide or flight cancellation but contingencies were in place when needed. The itinerary was well planned and I cannot rate the holiday highly enough.

People
We encourage our clients to buy local products and eat at local (family-owned) restaurants. We support the creation of micro- and small-scale enterprises.Simply “being out” awakens a part of many of us that’s gone dormant from living around artificial lights, the noise of civilization, the demands of daily life, and a lack of wide-open spaces. Our commitment is to provide exceptional adventures; these are important words to us. We hope our trips spark a desire to keep getting out.
We employ local people, including local guides, transport services from businesses owned by local people, and local support staff (porters, cooks, porter Sardar etc.).
