Iceland is a country of outstanding natural beauty, and our trips champion sustainability to maintain this one of a kind environment. We work with accommodations that are local to Iceland (not chain hotels) which share our vision and ethic. This is particularly important on this Iceland In Style trip where the accommodation is part of the central attraction. For instance, these accommodations offer vegan and vegetarian food options. They are also known for blending into the nature rather than contributing to overbuilding. This trip epitomises 'slow travel,' an alternative tourism choice that emphasises greater awareness and immersion in one's surroundings. On this trip, you can sit back and relax and really absorb the incredible nature that Iceland is famous for. If you do choose to venture a little further than your unique hotel and the incredible hot springs just around the corner, there are plenty of sustainable opportunities so get up close and personal with the elements by hiking through your incredible surroundings (human powered transport).
Emphasising our European trips forms part of a movement towards shorter haul travel options in the name of environmental sustainability. This new Iceland trip combines luxury and rugged beauty to demonstrate the awe-striking nature and culture that is a little closer to home, leader to a smaller carbon footprint for the majority of our local customers. We also participate in other initiatives with the aim to reduce the carbon footprint of our trips. Our holidays adhere to a make it meaningful policy that promotes 0 waste and a slower pace of travel to maximise enjoyment and immersion in the chosen destination. We are also partnered and invest in EARTHLY, described as nature based solutions that restore biodiversity and improve the livelihoods of communities most impacted by climate change. Our chosen project is Seaweed farming innovation in Cornwall, with the purpose of rapidly removing carbon from the atmosphere and creating shelter and food for wildlife. It can also be used as an alternative to fossil fuels in the immediate future, and can replace plastic and fertiliser, thus reducing industrial carbon emissions.
We also offer tools to our customers to encourage sustainability, carbon reduction and caring for the environment both at home and away. These include 'zero waste while travelling: our top tips', as well as our 'make it meaningful policy' that promotes animal welfare (underpinned by our relationship Animondial, an animal welfare group), 0 waste (exemplified in our almost entirely paper free office), and a slower pace of travel.
In everyday life, as a team, we ensure that we practice these principles too. We are both on the road to becoming a b-corp as well as work in a soon to be b-corp co working space, remaining up to date with the latest intel on running a sustainable business. We realise that small things can make a difference too, which is why we have an almost entirely paper free office and take part in community initiatives like recycling, group beach cleans and local gardening ventures.

We work with local guides who are experts in their field. This trip is no exception, and you can expect the best in the business- for instance, when visiting the Northern Lights from Reykjavk, or hiking in the mountainous heart of Iceland. This means that you will get the best insights into the way of life in Iceland, whilst simultaneously supporting the local economy. As our trips specialise in diverting from the usual tourist trail, this tends to support the economy in areas that are less frequented with tourist footfall.
Furthermore, one of the key aspects of our travel itineraries is that we work with local partners who are based in Iceland in order to provide the most authentic insight into everyday life in their chosen destination, and divert from the usual tourist trail (which is important in Iceland when considering the mitigation of environmental degradation in tourist hotspots) but also supports the country's economy even before our customer has touched down as the local partner helps to develop their itinerary. Our local partners in Iceland place "nature in the foreground" and have been offering expert guidance to travellers in Iceland for over a decade, since they were founded by their Icelandic owner Mrs. Unnur Svavarsdóttir.
Iceland is a top LGBTQ+ friendly destination and well known for it's diversity inclusion across the country.
