1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Finally seeing Machu Picchu, which was even better than I had anticipated. The stunning scenery as we drove across Bolivia came a close second.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Be prepared for all types of weather! We spent most of our holiday wearing walking boots, and needed sunscreen and ranger at different times. Make sure you plan carefully for being at altitude; we worked our way up gradually and had no problems.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

There were a number of opportunities to interact with local people, supporting communities to continue their traditional way of life by sharing it with travellers. All the excellent guides and drivers were local.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

This was a fantastic holiday to celebrate a special occasion. We had an amazing time, and would definitely recommend this operator. All the arrangements worked like clockwork, and we had some unforgettable experiences.

We are sorry to know that have rated your trip in Argentina only 2 stars. Our focus is slow travel, and this itinerary is designed to include 4 nights each in two amazing eco wildlife lodges, where your stay helps fund their important conservation work. At your request we did make significant changes to the itinerary, and you moved much more frequently, which in retrospect we should have not agreed to. Our ground agent is one of the most ethically focused in Argentina and the feedback from our previous customers has always been excellent. Based on your review and the feedback we have received from our team on the ground, I do not think we were the right operator for you on this occasion.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Whilst it may not have been exciting the most memorable part for me was sitting on a isolated beach with Elephant seals in front of us, sealions playing in the sea, sun shining down on us, whilst eating a lovely picnic with a glass of superb Argentine red. It was so quiet and calm - a truly special place and moment.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

We travelled around Argentina. I would advise to be prepared for long journeys travelling to destinations on the day trips, but it's worth it. And also for days spent at airports. You do tend to bump into the same people who are doing similar circuits and it's nice to catch up with them and make new friends!

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Yes I do. All the guides were local from local companies. The staff at the hotels and restaurants were all local. At the Los Glaciares National Park steps are taken to limit the amount of companies providing activities here in order to reduce impact whilst still providing employment to locals. A very difficult balancing act!

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Although we had a few hiccups,( a national transport strike being one of them) the holiday was fantastic. Everything ran like clockwork thanks to the efforts of the tour operator and the Argentine agencies.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Iguazu Falls, Brazil

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Do Machu Picchu in one day. The town has become a crowded tourist nightmare so don't ruin the experience by staying overnight there.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Yes, by and large, the 4 countries (Chile, Peru, Argentina, Brazil) seemed to be pretty environmentally-aware and were making a conscious effort to minimise their impact on the wildlife and flora.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Amazing - beyond expectations.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

We thoroughly enjoyed Argentina. We loved Buenos Aries and Patagonia - they were very different. However, going to the Glacier and horse riding was the most memorable part of our holiday.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

We popped over to Uruguay for the day - it was a great added extra. I wish before we had flown home that we had one extra day in Buenos Aries so we could have had a final mooch around the city and a final steak with red wine!

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Yes, definitely.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

It was very good. We did have a few niggles (with pick up times and we did not get a room we paid for in one hotel which was disappointing) however, overall we had a very good time and would definitely recommend this holiday.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Watching a capybara at sunset

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Give yourself time to see Buenos Aires.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Flying to South America and then having 2 internal flights and several long car journeys has a huge environmental impact. It's a luxury holiday. We contributed to the local economies and foreign tourists encouraged the forestry company to preserve some wetlands - but I don't feel that we could really say that we made a huge positive impact.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

We loved it.

Read the operator's response here:

Thank you for your feedback. We are delighted to hear you had such a good time in Argentina. We understand that flying to the country, and traveling around by car to reach such far-flung corners of wilderness, will leave a significant carbon footprint. We therefor seek to make sure you are visiting places that inspire you, and that need the income from lightfooted tourism to protect their surroundings..

By visting the Ibera Wetlands you are helping to grow and rewild one of the South America's most important freshwater ecosystems. Now known for its impressive biodiversity and housing endangered species, just 30 years ago it was a degraded backwater suffering from years of cattle ranching, commercial foresting and illegal hunting. The hugely succesful rewilding project has been made possible in a significant way by money from visitors like yourselves, staying at ethically-run lodges who contribute to its preservation. In 2018 it was acknowledged with National Park status, and continues to reintroduce endangered species.

We hope that by witnessing such remarkable landscapes and wildlife, you were inspired to do more to help protect the planet. We have seen that people who experience the most spectacular wonders of nature, will be more likely to do something positive when they get home.
