The scenery was incredible. We particularly enjoyed the ‘less travelled’ trails. The flora in the different areas of the island and our siting of the Madeiran Firecrest were highlights, as were coffee or beer in smaller villages of the island.read more

Climbing down to deserted beaches - not often swimmable because of rocks, waves and currents, but beautiful, and great for a cooling dip. Seeing the changes in vegetation as we went South. We also enjoyed the interesting inland sections, and coming across Moorish ruins.read more

A wonderful holiday…. Total freedom. The not knowing what was around the next corner, the freedom of the bikes, cycling along with nothing to organise as it was all done for us by Bert. The bikes were very comfortable with smooth gears and gel saddles. Bert met us in Loule and fitted us for the bikes helmets etc and went through all aspects of the trip. Excellent. It was a late booking but was still extremely well organised - everyone from booking all way through to escort back to airport were helpful and super friendly. We just loved the varied landscape. It is so beautiful, green and lush. The walks enabled us to experience this all across the island. Whale watching, which was an add on was a particular highlight.read more

The two boat trips where we saw lots of dolphins and whales, and the land trips to see all the amazing volcanic features. Plus eating the stew cooked in the ground! Incredible! The 'Being a Marine Biologist for the day' was absolutely brilliant. 10 out of 10 for certain!read more

Overall, the communication leading up to the trip was wonderful. I met with my guide once, and he went over everything with me. The only downfall for me was I did not like the bike, even though it was new. I'm used to riding with more gears and the chain slipped twice resulting in a couple of busted up knees! But overall, loved the experience.read more

This trip was amazing. We had an amazing group of people that were very like-minded and we all bonded really well. This made it even more special. I couldn’t have wished for more. A week on Pico Island blue whale watching will be something we will never forget. The most exciting bit was seeing blue whales which was the number one item on my husbands bucket list.
