1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Kayak trip with Dan out from Stanley around the off shore tussac islands teaming with wildlife.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Be specific about what you want and the company will try to arrange everything you specify.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

I don’t think any long haul destination can be considered environmentally friendly, but this was a very personal trip and I felt that by spending time on the Falkland Islands I came to understand and appreciate island life and I was impressed by the efforts being made to use tourism to help restore local habitats and preserve the very distinctive wildlife.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

This holiday has fulfilled all my expectations. Thank you

The money we put into the economy, particularly on the smaller islands will have contributed to their economic survival which can be precarious

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Seeing so much wildlife in its natural habitat with very few other people around

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Be very patient and leave lots of time between flights. The weather is unpredictable and the air service to and from Mount Pleasant is unpredictable, plan for some extra time between flights especially on the way home or you may need to be finding different flights.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Yes. The local people who run the lodges rely on tourism to earn their income.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

It was a once in a lifetime trip that was well worth it despite any logistical issues

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

The wildlife was fantastic. We saw 5 species of penguin, which were very comfortable to walk next to you. Another big highlight when on Pebble Island was watching 5 Killer Whales from the beach, initially distantly, however within 20-30 minutes they headed in shore right towards us and patrolled the beach around 50m away. We watched them for about an hour. We saw Elephant Seals, Sea Lions, a Sei Whale, Commerson's and Peale's Dolphins, and 50 species of birds. The scenery was stunning with white sand deserted beaches. An added interesting element was seeing the living history from the 1982 war. It was interesting being able to go to debris from planes and helicopters that had been shot down/destroyed and hearing the first had accounts from Falklanders who were there at the time and lived through it.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Go to as many islands as you can fit in to a trip as they are all so different. Pebble and Sea Lion Island in particular are a must. If you go to Volunteer Point for the King Penguin colony, ask to go very early. It takes about 2.5 hrs to get there, 1.5 hrs of which off road in a 4x4, which is very bumpy. But, it is worth it. Be beach and penguins are stunning. We left t 6am, and upon arrival had around 1.5 hrs completely our own with the penguins. By 10.30am, the cruise shippers arrived (35 vehicles) so it was very busy. It was magical having the place to ourselves. If you are not into walking/hiking maybe Carcass Island isn't for you, unless you specifically want to go to West Point to the Black Browed Albatross colony. If so you need to allow a few days there as it is sometimes not easy to get to West Point due to weather etc. This was the only disappointing part of our trip as we particularly wanted to go to West Point and had paid in advance many months earlier, although when we got there, the captain of the boat (to take us to West Point) was not there for the 4 days we stayed, so despite 2 days of flat calm weather we couldn't go. Leaving us with a lot of time and very little to do on the island. Go to the Museum in Stanley, as it's very interesting.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Definitely. The lodges were managed by Falklanders and we were guided by locals. Everyone was lovely and very interesting talking with them.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

10/10 - I would have given it 11 if the West Point trip had happened.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Memorable, probably the Perito Moreno glacier, exciting - not necessarily in a good way, the road from Hurtado to Vicuna

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Understand the rules of using local SIM cards in a non in-country registered phone. We ended up with no phone when the access to the hotel was by phone.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Yes because we went to places most tourists don’t and contributed to the local economy.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Absolutely brilliant, it was our special trip and it met and exceeded our expectations
