1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Hard to choose between being surrounded by a family of inquisitive lemurs in the rain forest or watching humpback whales swimming and spouting in the Mozambique channel.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
The wildlife is amazing, you will see a lot of lemurs! The roads are really, really bad; be prepared for long driving days. No problem finding vegetarian food, though the dishes were are little repetitive.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
- Yes, it benefited local people. We visited a number of local craftspeople and bought lots of souvenirs, silk, paper craft, local rum, etc. - There was a lot of driving, as that's the only way to reach the interior of the island, so it didn't reduce the environmental impact of air pollution. - Yes, it supported conservation. We visited numerous national parks, with park fees going to their programs. We attended a talk on cetaceans at one of the hotels given by a local whale conservationist.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Fantastic! It was an amazing experience.Viviane Hardy review 3 Dec 2024
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
The whole day trek in Massif Indringitra: dramatic scenery.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Do not go with Éthiopian airlines as the connection in Addis Abbeba was extremely stressful: chaos and physical violence to get through security check. Do a few days trek with tent in Andringitra and/or stay longer at Isalô instead of staying at seaside (Ifaty). Minimise internal flights: out of 2, 1 was cancelled and the second one was changed 4x. Buy books and pens to help the children at the schools .3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
It benefited local people as we had to be each time with a local guide. They were very good and much needed, so we gave them a good tip. We were given water in plastic bottes but thé driver kept the bottles to hand to local people to reuse. We did not see much litter. The lemurs, reptiles, other animals seem to be thriving thanks to added protection of their natural habitat plus rescue centre. Therefore tourism seems to help conservation .4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Exceptionally enjoyable: it was very well organised and stress free. Our driver was very competent, dedicated, friendly. Most of the accommodation were beautiful and comfortable. Outstanding sceneries and lots of animals sightings. People are friendly in general. The food was generally good and safe. I wish we would have done moré trekking as the seaside did not match the rest of the country .Rob Bain review 23 Sep 2022
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Travelling in armed convoy up the west coast of Madagascar. Two Klashnekoffs up front and two at the rear.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
This is not an African safari. Prepare and manage your expectations accordingly - remembering that Madagascar is one of the poorest countries in the world.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
