1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

There were many fantastic memories but seeing a mother and baby orangutang was awesome . Brunei was certainly worth a visit and the guide Kate and driver Renaldo were very knowledgeable. The guide MAS at the longhouse was one of the best guides I have ever come across both in knowledge and care for us . The food cooked in the bamboo at the longhouse was incredible and the Iban family we stayed with were so warm and welcoming that they will stay with me forever.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

You must be fit and have no mobility issues . This holiday is not suitable for for anyone who has knee /back or hip problems . Also the first morning is free and we took advantage of that to do a bike ride around Kuching which was lovely. The Long house was tough , the walk up was very slippery following the rain and there weren't steps but the hospitality of the Iban made the experience amazing. Immerse yourself in the experience.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

We ate in local restaurants', all the guides were local. The long house was an amazing but I'm unsure what % goes to the people. Environment - we brought reusable bottles but they were always filled from plastic bottles ! The amount of plastic in the Mangroves en route to Bako national park was unbelievable. Plastic is an issue across all areas we visited except Brunei. Conservation - everywhere you look there is land being cleared for Palm Oil especially noticeable from Miri to Niah. However the Iban explained how much they get for fish per Kilo and how much Palm oil is per Kilo and you can understand why. Semenggoh was awesome.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

It was a very good holiday and I would give it 5 stars except communication from the tour operator to us and local agents wasn't very good. Our flight time changed and this wasn't communicated to the local agent so twice we had to contact re lack of pick-ups I have fed back my next comments to the Director and they actually have an improvement plan. Communication needs to improve we didn't always know who was picking us up etc and we has a day in Sabah where the local company changed the complete itinerary without letting the operator know, the guide had very poor English so couldn't tell us what was happening so we basically lost a day. I contacted the operator and they apologised and gave us a meal and show as a 'compensation.' I feel that at the beginning we should have had something to say who would be collecting us and at what time and the detail of the days.

Dear Angie, Thank you so much for taking the time to share such detailed and valuable feedback on your tour. We truly appreciate you highlighting the many aspects you enjoyed, from the incredible orangutan sighting and your visit to Brunei, to the exceptional guidance of Kate, Renaldo, and especially Mas at the longhouse, and the warm welcome from the Iban community. We were also delighted to hear you enjoyed the bike ride in Kuching and embraced the longhouse experience. Your tips for future travellers regarding fitness levels are very important, and we will certainly take them on board to ensure our tour descriptions are clearer. We also appreciate your honest observations regarding the benefits to local people, environmental impacts, and conservation. Your points about plastic usage are particularly important to us. We wholeheartedly agree that the amount of plastic is a significant challenge worldwide and recognize its concerning presence in the areas you visited. This issue is being addressed by local governments and NGOs, but it will take time, and as a representative of the local tourism association, we will actively voice these environmental issues to relevant authorities and stakeholders here in Saban and Sarawak, Malaysia. We are committed to minimizing our environmental footprint. We encourage alternatives to single-use plastic bottles and aim to provide refillable options whenever logistically possible, although we acknowledge that this can be a challenge in remote areas where access to clean drinking water might be an issue. We have established processes to recycle any plastic used during our trips. Our guides designate collection points to ensure these plastics are processed responsibly. While the effectiveness of recycling can depend on the local infrastructure available, we continuously strive to improve our efforts, explore further ways to reduce plastic use, educate our travellers on responsible practices, and support local environmental initiatives. Finally, thank you for your overall rating and your specific feedback on our communication. We sincerely apologize for the instances where communication fell short, particularly regarding the flight change and the itinerary disruption in Sabah. We understand your frustration at not knowing who would be picking you up and the difficulties you experienced with the language barrier. As you know, you have already been in direct contact with our Director and we are actively working on the improvements discussed, including streamlining our communication processes and providing clearer pre-trip information. Your feedback has given us an even greater urgency to implement these changes fully. We are truly grateful for your constructive criticism, as it helps us to learn and improve. We are so pleased that despite these challenges, you still had a very good holiday with many fantastic memories. Thank you again for your review.

Mr SK Law was the one who met us at Kuching Airport the day of our arrival, drove us there the day of our flight to Miri and also took us to and from Kampong Bako the day we visited the National Park, so we saw him a few times and we liked him very much. The whole trip was very well organised and we enjoyed every minute of it. We are very grateful for all your help and we will recommend "Responsible Travel " to our relatives and friends.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

The most memorable part was arranged by Jerry Tao to attend the Remembrance Day celebrations on Labuan Island - an unexpected addition and very much appreciated. Some of the other highlights were visiting Bako National Park (seeing proboscis monkeys and wild boar plus the rock formations); the Orangutan Sanctuary and seeing a female and her baby; visiting the Niah Caves; the visit to Brunei and the visit with Jack Koh to Kinabalu Park. Learning the history & cultures of the areas we visited was a special treat.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Immerse yourself in the history & culture of the areas visited. Don't hesitate to communicate with your guides if you have anything of particular interest. Don't hesitate to ask questions - the guides are only too happy to share their knowledge. Most of the trip was very pleasant although I found the trip to the Iban Longhouse a bit tedious (a liitle too much emphasis on Tuak) and the facilities less than basic. Our guide while extremely knowledgeable, generally engaged, but not very attentive at meal times and my wife (being a celiac) required gluten free meals. Another one of our guides while English speaking, was almost impossible to understand because of his accent

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Our holiday I'm sure benefitted the local people especially the Iban as it put money into their facility plus we were expected to give a gift on arrival and suggested we tip at the end.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

There were sufficient positives to out weigh any of the negatives and I would rate it a four out of 5. Most of the hotels were more than adequate and had good locations
