Hi Gavin & Pat, we're so delighted you enjoyed your tailor-made mini rail tour of Scotland! It was our pleasure to be able to help with your last-minute enquiry and I'm glad you felt we really listened to what you wanted from your trip. I'm also grateful you listened to our advice and allowed us to adapt the itinerary from your initial ideas, which perhaps would have been a less fulfilling trip. With regard to the question about whether the trip helped to benefit local people or reduce environmental impact, I'm pleased to say that by staying in locally-owned hotels your stay helped to create a positive economic impact as well as helping to provide local employment. Likewise hopefully you were able to check out the locally-owned eateries we suggested, further boosting your positive economic impact as well as giving you a great experience. Travelling by train and local bus for most of your journey to meant that your carbon impact was significantly lower than for those travellers who choose to travel by private car - for example your bus, boat and ferry tour of Mull, Iona & Staffa was a fantastic way to enjoy travelling independently but without the high carbon footprint of a private driver guide. Thanks again for choosing to travel with us and we hope to have an opportunity to welcome you back again soon!

I would rate this holiday a 9/10 as we had a little problem with the Jacobite Steam train (it was not used for our trip due to extreme fire hazards and we were not informed ahead of time or given option to cancel or have a refund).Laura Wacker review 10 Oct 2023
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
The train ride to and from Mallaig from Ft. William was beautiful. Loved going over the Glenfinnan Viaduct.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Allow enough time to visit Skye since it is large, and, perhaps, go in the spring to avoid the rainier season of fall.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
I felt we were supporting an important tourism economy. Soon the winter will set it and things will shut down. We also got to see that they need a boost in their employee base, perhaps from students or immigrants, which has disappeared since the pandemic and also new government legislation.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Very fun to see the Isle of Skye and to recognize that it is a very large island with many communities. Very interesting and friendly.John Anderson review 10 Oct 2023
