The amazing combination of breath-taking historical site surrounded by fantastic wildlife and breath-taking forest. The opportunity to watch countless species of birds from the top of Mayan monuments is simply wonderful.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Be prepared for adventure. Listen, watch, and soak up the surroundings. There is so much to see and find out. 3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts, or supported conservation? Yes, all the guides and drivers were local to the sights. The accommodation was locally owned and run and the money spent directly contributes to sustaining the national parks and the monuments which lie within them.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
It was wonderful. Really well planned and ran very smoothly. All our guides were well prepared and passionate. It was wonderfully adventurous but also informative and relaxing.LeAnn James review 30 Nov 2024
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
The ATM cave was an experience our family will never forget. It was incredible. We also enjoyed the visit to the Garífuna cultural center which was fun for everyone in our group which ranged from 6-74 years in age. We went snorkeling with the nurse sharks out on the barrier reef which was so much fun.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
I would be sure that you can climb and swim well to go to the ATM cave. If so, it is well worth the trip. The lodge at Black Rock was lovely, especially for birders but it is far from many of the excursions so you need to be prepared for some back and forth driving to go anywhere out of the lodge.Ramon’s Village resort in Caye Ambergris was fabulous.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes, especially in the Garífuna cultural center out of Hopkins. It’s is run by a local family who lives on the property. They were so welcoming and really engaging especially with the children in our family group. We also enjoyed the Belizean guides who were knowledgeable and kind. I did have some concern about driving back and forth for the excursions in and out of the Black Rock lodge and think I would have organized it to do less excursions from that site and would have had less impact on the amount of car travel. That said, our driver, Rachel, who was with us for most of the trip was fabulous .4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
It was a great family trip that had something for everyone on our group which ages ranged from 6- to 74. We were really able to get a feel for the Belizean culture.Alan Cooke review 28 Apr 2024
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
The ATM Caves.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
If you want education and history the go to the Mayan temples in Guatemala. If you want just fun then don't.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
I think it helped locals and supported conservation. Not sure about reducing environmental impacts. How could it when all this fuel is being used to get places?4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Very good.Van Westervelt review 9 Feb 2024
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
We loved all of it, but the ATM cave stands out as one of the most insane things we’ve done, and you get the bonus of the cool Mayan relics at the end.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Be prepared for a very active agenda. It might help to build rest days in here and there. Be sure to wear heavy socks and dry fit in the caves. Carry filtered water everywhere.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
The trip supported local guides and local economies well. And all of the info about the Mayan ruins definitely supports the importance of conservation efforts both environmentally and historically speaking.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
We had a wonderful time. We particularly enjoyed splitting our time between the interior of Belize/Guatemala and the Caye in Belize. We thoroughly enjoyed learning more about Mayan culture while in the interior, and then getting some fun in the sun near the end.Julie Peterkin review 21 Dec 2024
