The trip on the Gota kanal.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Make sure you take minimum luggage both for the Canal trip and the Inlandsbana trip. The luggage space on both legs of the trip was minimal and it was awkward dealing with large cases on the Inlandsbana (we had not fully appreciated this prior to departure) On the Inlandsbana leg the distances from the station to the hotel was substantially longer and uphill than indicated. The train staff were not, as advertised, helpful in indicating where the hotels were. Travellers would be advised to obtain local maps prior to departure to help them find the hotels. The internet was patchy on the Train and therefore could not be relied on for using Google maps etc. Individual travellers like us would have benefitted from considering booking the Inlandsbana independently because some of the legs on the organised trips were overlong and better locations could be visited e.g Jokkmukk instead of Gallivare. A rover ticket might be a better bet. The private transfer from Arlanda to Gamla stan and from Stockholm back to Arlanda was not good.3. Most enjoyable holiday on the whole and well organised by your firm to my specifications .The hotels in Gamla Stan, Norrmalm and Gothenburg were all good. NB We did not go on a package holiday but one arranged to our specifications by Elin Fry.Holiday Reviews
