Reviews for Japan small group tour, in the shadow of mountains
Susan Zerwick review 7 Oct 2024
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
It's certainly very hard to pick one, so either the public Onsen in Yunotsu Onsen, where a little Japanese lady tried to show us how to navigate the 3 pools... she had no English and we had no Japanese (and we all had no clothes) so lots of laughter. Or the chair-lift to the ruins of Tsuwano Castle, which was fun and exhilarating. The Iwami Kagura performance at Yunotsu Onsen was amazing too!2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Really a delightful holiday, but probably not for those who do not like fish!3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
One of the best things about the tour was that it entirely used public transportation. Not only was our carbon footprint smaller, but we had more interaction with Japanese people and a better feel for how they live. From the time we left Kyoto to when we arrived in Hiroshima we were almost the only westerners, so I think/hope that our presence benefited the small ryokan where we stayed.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
It was wonderful!Holiday Reviews
