1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Abu simbel and the dahabyia2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Don’t hesitate3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
It’s difficult to calculate the impact on the community . I hope it helped them. The number of small plastic water bottles we had to use was disappointing : maybe a large dispenser on the boat and we refill our own water bottles. Also, the little gift bags( with face cloth and soap) could be made by the girl teaching women to sew.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
The most memorable has to be the temples at Abu Simbel. The most enjoyable was the four days drifting up the Nile in our dahabiya2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
1 This is for people who are interested in Ancient Egypt, in the tombs and the temples 2 The temperature towards the end of January was generally pleasant and sometimes hot. We wouldn't have wanted to go any later in the year. 3 An expert guide, as we had, makes all the difference. 4 Tummy troubles are a real risk in this part of the world. Go with a company (like this one) that only takes you eating places that have been vetted for food hygiene. 5 It is very issue to get tipping wrong. Ask your guide to do all the tipping on your behalf (as we did); and make sure that all the tipping really is included (it turned out that the tipping for the boat crew was not included, which led to some unpleasantness)3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes, we had two village visits, a visit to a traditional boxmaker, and tuktuk rides, all of which will have brought income to local people.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Very good. It would have been even better if our last temple visit had been Abu Simbel: the temple seen after was a bit of an anti climax. We would have done better to visit the Aswan museum instead.Holiday Reviews
