1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

It's a close call between the wine tasting organised at Celar Eugeni in Palamos (we added a day) and visiting the Iberian city at Ullastret. Marti was very knowledgeable and had some excellent wines, so well worth the visit if there's time; the ruins and the museum are absolutely fascinating and well worth the trip on the last day. Third place goes to the fishing musuem in Palamos, which is practically on the doorstep of the hotel and also very interesting.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

1. Bring walking poles and good boots. Surfaces vary from tarmac to sand to narrow hill trails to steps in a rock face to scrambling over beach boulders. 2. When the guide says "stop here for lunch", pay attention. The only day we didn't, we regretted it. 3. It's worth checking out things that you can visit along the route via your favourite online map too - for example, there was no mention of Dali's workshop via a small detour on the walk from Palamos to Calella de Palafrugell. 4. The recommended restaurants are variable but worth paying attention to.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Definitely benefitted the locals: every hotel was a local independent, and likewise for everywhere recommended to eat.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

We had a smashing time - if you like walking and eating, this is a good one to go on.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Being able to enjoy the Spanish countryside on foot, at a slow pace, was truly a gift. We were serenaded by birdsong and surrounded by fields of wildflowers.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Come with open eyes and ears. Be sure you are fit and can walk for up to 12-14 miles a day. Take plenty of water, come equipped with walking sticks, and take the inland routes offered in place of coastal routes if you are unsure of your ability to navigate some stretches of narrow, steep trails with rocks.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

We stopped for refreshment breaks at local cafes in small towns along the way and also visited some out of the way museums and attractions, so hopefully we contributed in a small way to local economies. By walking, our carbon footprint was low. Also, we were mindful of the amount of water we were using in this drought-plagued part of the world.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

We are well-traveled and have done other (self-guided) walks in Europe. This rates as one of our all-time best experiences. The tour operator provided excellent communication, planning & support services, including an easy to use GPS/map app, and booked us into amazing hotels that we would not have discovered on our own. We would encourage anyone interested in walking, fine dining, luxurious accommodations, great architecture, and hassle-free travel to take this particular tour. You won't be disappointed!

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Walking along the scenic coast trails, discovering the local food and wine.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Don't let winter deter you from this itinerary.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Only in the way we were supporting the local economy. Since we were walking and using public transportation I feel our holiday was relatively low impact environmentally.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Mark with the tour operator provided a great itinerary and friendly support. Many of the small hotels and restaurants were closed since we travelled just before Christmas when businesses began their own annual holiday. Mark was able to put together an alternate holiday from their usual itinerary which still allowed us to experience all the essential aspects of the usual trip. The bonus was there were no crowds and I think the area was even more enjoyable as a result.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Hiking the coastal trail along the Costa Brava in Catalonia and coming upon one gorgeous cove or beach after another. It was truly stunning.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Book this trip in the shoulder season. We traveled the second week of May, and the weather was great. There were not many people on the trail, in the towns, or at the beaches. Wear a good supportive pair of hiking shoes or boots. We found hiking poles very helpful. If taking a train to and from Gerona be sure to get to the station a full 30 minutes prior to departure.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Yes - we were booked at small local hotels, some of which had their own restaurants. We ate local tapas, seafood, and enjoyed local wines. We met many local people who were friendly and appreciative of this particular connection and support from touring folks.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Excellent, memorable, beautiful, and way fun! Shelley and Mark are new owners and very committed to supporting their clients and building their business. They are wonderful people.
