1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Seeing a wild orangutan on a river cruise from the Abai Jungle Lodge2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
In hindsight I would have added and extra 2 nights and stayed a little longer in the jungle. Also the Selingan Turtle Island was wonderful, however, if I came again I would probably miss this one out.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes, there were many local people employed at the lodges and there were numerous conservation projects that our fees went towards during the trip.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
5* the trip was wonderful and all of our lodges were lovely. The local people in Malaysian Borneo were so welcoming and friendly and the various staff and guides could not do enough for you. We also mentioned that the trip had been booked for a 40th birthday celebration and we were greeted with a birthday cake at 3 different lodges! An absolutely beautiful trip that we would highly recommend and would do again in a heart beat!Alexandra Macnamara review 19 Jun 2022
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
So hard to pick just one! One memorable part was seeing wild orangutans on our river cruise and then seeing the beautiful sunset, followed by the fireflies. Although we had so many amazing experiences, such as the walks in Danum Valley such as the walk to the viewpoint or the morning sunlight during the canopy walk. Also the beautiful snorkeling on Gaya Island was incredible!!2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Follow the advice on what to bring: good walking shoes, insect repellent, suncream, etc. When you're out, make sure you bring water with you. Keep in mind you might not get to see the Borneo wildlife, so don't worry if not - just enjoy the incredible environment and experience. If you are lucky enough to see wildlife, it's unlikely you'll get a good photo with a phone, so if you're keen on getting good photos, think about bringing a proper camera or binoculars with a smartphone adaptor or something similar.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
A few of our guides told us about the positive economic impact of tourism on the local people and we were very pleased to hear about the values of some of the hotels we stayed in, such as hiring local people or buying produce, such as fish from the local villages to support local people. There were also efforts made to reduce plastic in several of our hotels which was important, and it was amazing to see some of the conservation work in Danum Valley and support this, in addition to supporting wildlife rehabilitation projects.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Absolutely incredible! It was perfect.Holiday Reviews
