1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Hiking up to the Tigers Nest in Bhutan.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Take as few clothes as possible to leave space in your case for souvenirs. If we’d had more space we would have bought some Bhutan whisky & rum!3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes - our guides were very respectful of the environment.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Excellent - a great driver who also was a qualified guide & our own dedicated guide as well so all bases covered.Mary Solomon review 23 May 2025
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Hiking up to Tigers Nest in Bhutan and the hot stone bath ( amidst a hail storm) afterwards.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Kolkata is very hot in May so if you want to walk around tourist spots, best to do so a bit earlier. Bhutan is clean, orderly and pretty quiet compared to India. Try to get some local bushwalks in to your itinerary. Do visit the wildlife rescue park in Thimpu where you will see the national animal Takin.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Certainly benefited local people as all tourists need to be accompanied by a local guide and driver.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Excellent.Steve Layton review 24 Nov 2024
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Travelling to the central regions of Bhutan to visit Trongsa and the Bumthang area, where the settlements are smaller and there are fewer tourists.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Extend the trip by a few days so that you can go further east (see above).3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes: the SDF (sustainable development fee) you have to pay would appear to benefit local people and the environment.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Excellent: Bhutan is a unique country, and definitely worth visiting despite the cost of the SDF.Sam Chakraverty review 22 Nov 2023
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
We attended a masked dance festival in Phobjika valley - our guide only found out about it the day before as it was local to where we were staying. Thousands of people were there in the middle of nowhere, and only a half dozen tourists - an amazing day. Just walking in the countryside is lovely.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
It's more expensive to go now with various taxes and pricey flights but still definitely worthwhile as it's so unique. Just go if you can. We had a 8 night tour which was enough to get a flavour of the country - not sure how many more beautiful temples we wanted to see! We combined it with a stay either end in Kolkata during Durga Puja festival - usually October and completely manic and very different from peaceful Bhutan.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes in that it provided money and employment. The carbon negativity and gross national happiness are not exactly as advertised when you scratch beneath the surface, but the guides will chat about life in Bhutan readily..4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
It was brilliant - not crowded; think Switzerland with higher mountains, paddy fields and Buddhist temples. Learning about the culture in such a quickly developing country was fascinating.Suzanne Dinning review 2 Jan 2020
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Landing at Paro airport - not for the faint hearted!2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Take an old thick pair of socks to walk around the temples in (the floors can be cold)!3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
We saw very few tourists so yes I think are being their benefited local people.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
It was absolutely brilliant; the food (simple but tasty), the local people (friendly and welcoming); and the scenery (stunning).Holiday Reviews
