Reviews
1 Reviews of Ivory Coast discovery tour
3 out of 5 stars
Reviewed on 22 Mar 2025 by Marina Petronoti
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
I enjoyed the music and dances, walking around in markets and certain villages, taking photos (when permitted to do so), meeting villagers - though I would also like to talk with them with a guide's help.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
see 1.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
No, I don't think it did. Though we certainly left no garbage behind us, we did not have the opportunity to talk with local people (other than guide and driver) and exchange views about how they see tourists, what they expect from us (other than money), explain why we travel in remote areas of the country etc.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Very good
Read the operator's response here:
Thank you for the review and for rating the trip as very good. The tour uses locally owned accommodation, drivers and guides, and we try and keep as much of your spend in the local economy. With these type of tours, it is important to follow the guides advice regarding photos and respecting the locals wishes, so it is not always possible to interact as fully as you may like.
Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

CARBON REDUCTIONThis adventure tour in Côte d'Ivoire does not require the use of any internal flights. For the international flights to Abidjan, we suggest that our customers calculate their estimated impact on the environment of their flights (we send a link) and choose to purchase sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to act on their emissions if possible, or purchase carbon offsets from certified climate projects
Once we are in the region we do minimise our carbon footprint. We do need to use 4WD vehicles at certain points due to the terrain. All of our food is locally sourced and we are using locally owned and managed hotels. Vegan and vegetarian food is available but must be requested in advance.
ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
On this tour we are committed to reduce the environmental impacts of our visit. Our guides are all locally based and experts in the region that we travel to. When visit the Danani region we use local guides and explore some of the rainforest that stretches between Ivory Coast, Liberia, and Guinea. Our visit helps protect his area and preserve the local culture that have a symbiotic relationship. All of our clients get an information sheet before travelling with information about reducing their impacts on the local environment.
People
PEOPLELOCAL ECONOMY
We strive to generate greater economic benefits for local people and enhance the well-being of the communities we visit whilst still providing a positive and rewarding experience for our customers. Our business aims to minimise the negative social, economic and environmental impacts of tourism. During our time in Korhogo we visit a remote village to witness the ancient craft of iron making. Our visit helps support this local community and maintain the age-old customs of the local tribe. For more than 80 years it was believed that this technique used by the local villagers had disappeared, up to the discovery of this village. This is just one of many local economic and social interactions along the way. We aim to use 100% locally owned accommodation on this tour. The tour also uses 100% local guides and drivers.
EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY
We understand that the responsibility and action needed in a particular location will depend upon the local environment and culture. Tourism is one of the most important and largest industries on the planet. It accounts for 11% of the world’s GDP and 12% of its exports. It employs more people worldwide than any other industry, with millions of families relying on tourism for their daily needs.
All employees have health and life insurance covered by the company and they offer the highest standard of salary and working environment in the travel industry. Being socially responsible and environmentally conscious with minimal impact on the environment and local culture and heritage is embedded in the company culture.
