1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
The Mass Mara and Serengeti were amazing. Zanzibar and its beautiful people and beaches, was a great way to finish off the trip. The ocean was much needed after all the African massages! (road trips on dirt roads). I got to see all of the big 5. I missed the great migration, so will be back!
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Respect the countries and their customs and cultures, the National parks and their inhabitants. You are not guaranteed to see all the animals and it’s not through the lack of the guides knowledge or expertise. Do the hot air balloon over the Serengeti!
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Absolutely all of the above. The host company has a strong focus on reducing environmental impacts.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Brilliant experience from the first point of contact with Ann from the host company. Ann and Abu were nothing short of amazing with their communication, recommendations and support. I told Ann what I wanted and 24 hours later, I had my itinerary! She exceeded my expectations given the very short notice I gave her (5 days before the tour commenced). They made me feel like family and it was a bonus to meet them in person. I found it to be a very personalised experience. Travelling solo, I never felt rushed and Abu always made me feel comfortable and went over and above to ensure I had the best experience. He is respectful, knowledgeable, patient, friendly and a lot of fun. He never got tired of my endless chatter lol or at least he did not show it.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
I got to do all that I wanted to do for this trip and more. Having a local's expertise during the planning stages of the trip made the difference because they know the lay of the land and what works and doesn't which would help you in creating the prefect itinerary.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Just do it, you won't regret it. Bring your sense of adventure and lots of patience. The animals after all don't know you have a schedule to follow.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
I was pleased to know that my travel is able to support a local owned company that not only cares about their customers but that also shows the same respect, pride and mindfulness toward other guests, the people around them, the animals, the environment and their country.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
The whole trip was seamless from the planning to the actual trip itself. As a solo female traveler, I felt peace of mind and safe. The driver guides with their expertise will make the game drive not just enjoyable and entertaining but also educational.
This has been a memorable first trip to Africa ever, all thanks to the excellent team at the tour operator. I highly recommend and will travel with them again.

CARBON REDUCTIONIn Tanzania where our office is the major source of power is hydroelectricity, which need a lot of water, but we are in a Tropical Country where the sun is throughout the year. In our office we use solar system to avoid the much wasted water from Hydroelectricity.
All the accommodations that we book in the National park use Solar panels for water heating and lighting
Most of the food that is provided at the accommodations are locally sourced from the local markets and from farmers.
We offer all the days options of Vegetarian and Vegan choices.
ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
We are supporting tree planting project at Usambara Mountain which involve the school children from 7 years to 14yrs to raise awareness of taking care of their environment and how the cut down trees would have a negative impact to the wildlife and future generation. For the tree planting project like the friends of Usambara mountains the clients are able to participate in planting trees together with the school children with their teachers. They can also buy trees from the village trees nursery and donate to the project.
During the game drive we encourage our guests to follow the policy of Trash In Trash out to make sure our National parks remain clean for the well being of our Wildlife.
We know our wildlife and we are committed to conserving it and encourage guests to follow our lead. We are committed to all the rules in our National Parks concerning sustainable tourism. Our local guides have over 10 years experience they know every corner of our National Parks this give us advantage of driving far from crowded sights. We always avoid the sights with a lots of vehicles in order not to disturb the animals. We respect animals comfort zones by educate our driver guides to avoid off roads.
We are supporting the big campaign on getting rid of use of plastic bags and bottles so we offer our client refillable bottles for there water and we do not use plastics in our cars and also for the lunchboxes . We also avoid a lot of printing, and for bookings and other related issues with paper we try to do online in order to avoid printing a lot and hence saving trees!
As a team of people who loves nature and care about our community well being believe that we only have one planet and we should all do our part to ensure that it’s protected by combining our modern ways of living with a deeper respect and understanding of what nature provides. Environmental conservationists understand that the way we live is a reflection of how we feel about the natural world, and our everyday habits show how much we truly value all the things that the Earth gives us.

LOCAL ECONOMYMost of the accommodations that we are working with are locally owned.
All our staff and guides are all local so we are 100% Tanzanian owned and
operated tour company.
In our communities many women are single parents due to various reasons, mainly the death of their husbands, leaving them to raise their children on their own with little or no income. Many live in extreme poverty. As locals, the Long way Expeditions team donates high milk yielding cows to these families. The widow is responsible for taking care of the cow and manage it under zero grazing. This project has the general objective of improving the quality of life for women in our community and their children. We have already helped many families.
Every year team Long Way Expeditions donates sanitary pads to school girls in remote areas. This has been a big problem which causes school girls to miss their studies for a week in every month, affecting the girls’ academic performance in general. This is because many families can not afford to buy the pads for their daughters. We aim to do as much as we can to ensure that women and girls are not held back in this way.
EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY
Implementing a community engagement support program is part of Long Way Expedition's operations. We are working with Longido safe house which is dedicated to serve the Maasai children from 0-18 years who have experienced various form of abuse, such as neglect ,physical, emotional, or sexual abuse, victim of child trafficking and forcing early marriage.
The primary goal of a Longido Safe House is to ensure the safety and well being of these children while they receive the necessary support, care ,to recover from their traumatic experiences.
Long way expedition give equal rights to both girls and boys in the employment opportunities.
We pay our staff wages accordance to the government guidelines with the labor law.
