Description of Lapland holiday, husky safari & log cottage
This short Finnish Lapland holiday takes you into another world, on a unique adventure , far up in the wilderness. You will start by an overnight husky safari and reward yourselves after hard work by luxurious comfort.
Nothing beats the feeling of mushing your team of sled dogs through snow blanketed forests. You will get to care for your team overnight and also learn mushing skills, before tucking up in a wilderness cabin without modern facilities.
After returning back to the husky farm, it is time to get some luxury treatment.
The small igloo resort is located by the tranquil shore of an Arctic lake. Each igloo features large ceiling windows offering direct views of the night sky.
A few, carefully selected outdoor activities such as visiting a reindeer farm and taking a sleigh ride as well as ice-fishing and snowshoeing will be included.
If weather conditions are favorable, you have high chances to see the Northern Lights on several nights of this trip as the skies up north in the wilderness are light pollution free.

Every component was outstanding. Tankavaara was perfect; food, staff, accommodation excellent...particularly loved the areas history. Trips were really well organised. The most memorable was all the snow and ice activities - husky sledding, ice fishing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobile driving - were great. So different from what you can do in London! It was all brilliant, but I would say the most memorable bit was the husky safari, it was so peaceful once the dogs got started. The rest of the trip was amazing too from the hotel Vuokkati, to cross country skiing, ice skating, visiting the spa at Katinkulta and Angry Birds park and going out on cross country ski trails and tobagonning from the hotel. Husky safari is an ecological way to move in the wilderness without motor. By travelling this way our guests will get deep into wilderness they could not reach by car and they can really connect with nature and experience how it feels to be dependent on a team of huskies.Season and weather make each safari different. A local professional guide will tell the participants about the eight seasons, the Arctic nature and its fauna on the way. Far out the wilderness it might also be possible to see some of the Arctic animals, for example reindeers and pfarmigans. He/she will also make sure the guests arrive safely back from the safari. During the safari the dogs are taken well care for by the participants themselves.
After the husky tour the guests will stay in a unique new igloo built in the middle of the Arctic nature. Our guests will stay at the resort and their activities will take place right from the cabin yard,.
People
We are keen to support the local community and ensure that they feel the benefits of tourism. The Husky farm for example is a local company in the northeastern part of Finland where there are not many other sources of income in addition to mining and forestry. Our guests will get closer to the nature and will get to discover how the original population has been able to survive in extreme conditions at the Arctic circle.Both the husky farm and the igloo resort are owned by private Finnish companies and all the services such as transfers are provided by local companies.
