Our luxury walking holidays & tours

Our luxury walking holidays are all about doing things at your own pace. Slow things down so that you get a more immersive experience without needing to get from A to B by a set time, and in doing so have more of an economic benefit to the places you visit. Book the services of a brilliant local guide that knows the trails in the area like the back of their hand. And stay in seriously stylish hotels where they take their environmental obligations seriously (and lay on a fantastic spread at breakfast, too).

Highlights of our luxury walking holidays

Accommodation

From award-winning restored kasbahs in Morocco’s Atlas Mountains to Provencal spa hotels, stylish eco-resorts in South India to secluded lodges tucked deep in New Zealand’s Abel Tasman National Park, the promise of a sumptuous place to rest up every night is a highlight of our luxury walking tours. Fine dining, hot tubs and massages will put a spring in your step and ensure that when you emerge onto the trail the following morning you feel completely revitalised. Plus, the properties we use employ local people, often in management roles, and harness a range of environmental measures such as removing single-use plastics from their operations and solar energy.

Taking your time

Perhaps the greatest luxury of all is the freedom to take your time on the trail. Walking at a pace that suits you is more enjoyable of course, but it’s also more immersive – it allows you to really take in the landscapes that you’re passing through. Moving at a slower pace also means that your holiday can have a greater positive impact on the communities you stay in. Spending an extra night here and there doubly benefits the rural hotels and restaurants that are always keen to welcome our walkers. Slow travel like this is responsible to its core.

Luxury accoutrements

How do you make walking luxurious? Well, you could put on the fanciest pair of boots that money can buy. Or, you could combine your walking with some opulent optional extras. In Croatia our trails can link you up with family-run vineyards happy to offer tastings to thirsty walkers, while in Provence and Bulgaria your daily wanders can finish with a sublime soak in a spa hotel. Enjoy one of our walking retreats on Spain’s Costa Blanca, meanwhile, and it’s not only your legs that will be getting stretched, with daily yoga sessions looking out over one of the sunniest coastlines in Europe.

Tailor made travels

Most of our luxury walking holidays are tailor made, so we can shape the itineraries, and your standard of accommodation, to your specific preferences. If you’d prefer a later start one day and consequently need a shorter route, or you’d like to upgrade your hotels, or you want to add in a few rest days where you can explore the local area, our expert planners will be happy to make the arrangements. And while tailor made trips are usually self-guided, in many places such as Morocco’s Atlas Mountains we can also arrange a private guide to show you around, providing excellent company as well as useful knowledge on everything from the area’s wildlife to its local culture.

This was our first trip to Morocco and indeed to Africa and although we were unsure exactly what to expect we couldn't have felt more comfortable or welcomed by the Moroccans. It was a wonderful experience quite unlike anything we have done before. We will not hesitate to recommend this holiday to others.read more

The trekking. We were lucky to have the company of the excellent Mohammed for 5 enjoyable days. He made the usually nervy one of us feel relaxed and confident. We enjoyed walking and talking with Mohammed about the whole mountain, village and valley area, the plants, trees, the Berber way of life. We wish him the very best and highly recommend him.read more
