Montenegro active holiday
Description of Montenegro active holiday
This ten day tailor made activity holiday in Montenegro will take you way beyond the crowded coastlines and high up into Mount Komovi and Mrtvice Canyon from where natural springs and ancient stone paths lead to overnight accommodation in traditional wooden cabins.

As you’ll have a hire car and the services of specialist activity instructors and mountain guides you can choose your own adventure with a magnificent mix of scenery, white water rafting, zip lining, canyoning and hiking helping to turn Durmitor National Park into the ultimate adventure playground.
From authentic homemade packed lunches and mealtimes with friendly families to a literal raft of exciting outdoor adventure activities in the cool blue Montenegrin mountains, this is one holiday that you’ll want to revisit again and again.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Standing on the peak of a mountain and taking in the view! We loved all the walks, exploring new places, meeting some great people and travelling around this beautiful country.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Take a good pair of walking shoes! We absolutely loved all the walks we did but a good pair of trail shoes/walking boots were essential.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
We met lots of local people - the guides and the hosts in our accommodation - and I hope and think that our holiday benefited them. They all seemed rightly proud of their country and seemed to enjoy showing off the beautiful walks, wildlife and views.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Amazing, we have a fabulous time in such a beautiful country!

Accommodation providers are given support and advice from our staff on all aspects of providing excellent facilities and services in line with the principals of sustainability. All service providers are encouraged to promote the “Reduce, Recycle, Re-use” principals of waste management (through our Zero Waste NGO work). Also, all the accommodations we work with are locally owned, almost only small-scale accommodations owned by families. We have created a Sustainable Tourism Guide especially for Montenegro that we send to all our guests before departure, encouraging them to take with them reusable bottles and bags as recycling rate in Montenegro is very low. We also give them concrete advise how to behave respectfully while in the nature and also to join us in educating locals on sustainable practices.
We do employ only local guides (specific to the regions you visit) and we give our employees excellent working conditions and fair wages, as well as empower them with in-house and external training opportunities (please feel free to ask them yourself how satisfied they are with working for our company!) :-)
We create encounters between the guests and the local community. We have selected great families and persons for our guests to meet. The authentic warm way of welcoming guests in Montenegro is always what people remember the most when they leave the country after a trip with us.
Skadar Lake is a National Park so by paying entrance fees (included) guests enhance the further development of environmental projects which is of our great interest as well.
Transfers are provided by recognized service providers licensed by the government of Montenegro. All vehicles are eco-rated and chosen for their respective high compliance. This itinerary was designed to minimize excessive vehicle travel and to promote interaction with the natural environment. Guests are given options to reduce their carbon footprint on the tour and educated on the principals of responsible travel.
