As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.
Planet
As with all of our holidays and as a certified B-Corp we are committed to help protect the environment and the communities that we visit. Many of the properties featured in this itinerary are restored forts, havelis, and palaces, rather than newly built hotels. Restoration uses fewer resources than new construction, reducing carbon emissions, deforestation, and the impact on local ecosystems. Keeping these buildings in use also prevents them from falling into disrepair or being replaced with modern high-rises
On Day 4 you will be staying at the wonderful Chambal Safari Lodge, who are committed to ensuring the protection of the Chambal Valley and working with the Forest Department and local communities on eco-development projects. On the lodge grounds itself, indigenous trees are planted to continue forestation efforts. Additionally, engaging in nature-based activities, such as boat trips on the Chambal River, fosters environmental awareness and supports local conservation efforts.
You will also be staying at Shahpura Bagh. The original founder of the state of Shapura created the first rain water harvesting system in the region and the family of Shapura Bagh today work with the community to continue this.
People
This itinerary positively impacts local communities by facilitating cultural exchange and supporting regional development. Many of the hotels in this itinerary are historic palaces, havelis, and forts that have been carefully restored. By staying in these properties, travellers directly contribute to their upkeep, preventing them from falling into disrepair or being replaced by modern developments. This kind of heritage tourism ensures that Rajasthan’s architectural and cultural history is preserved for future generations.Staying in family-run accommodations like Chanoud Garh ensures that tourism revenue directly benefits local families and communities, promoting sustainable development. The property employs local craftspeople for restoration projects and offers village tours, allowing guests to engage with artisans and understand the socio-cultural fabric of the region.
In Delhi you have the chance to take a street food tour of Old Delhi - where you will be able to meet the chefs, bakers and families who have been providing food here for generations.
