CARBON REDUCTIONThere are no domestic flights included in this tour. You will take shared 4x4 transportation and a shared boat in order to make it to the Islands. This reduces the amount of CO2 released per person.
The vehicles that provide service to the Guna territory are heavily regulated. There is a very limited number of approved vehicles, each of which carries a maximum of 6 passengers + the driver.
ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
Establishing direct connections with the Guna population, we have meticulously chosen the best islands and Guna families over the years. This not only guarantees our customers an exceptional experience but also prioritizes environmental sustainability and the well-being of the local ecosystem.
By working in harmony with the Guna community, we strive to make your trip environmentally conscious. The predominant portion of your ticket investment directly supports the well-being of the San Blas environment, fostering positive impacts on the local individuals we engage with and the various communities we discover.
This extends to our team, boats, accommodations, meals, and the scenic landscapes where we immerse ourselves each day, promoting a sustainable and eco-friendly journey.
People
LOCAL ECONOMYGuna Yala is a semi-autonomous indigenous Comarca (territory). The comarca, its residents, and approved agencies, including ours, operate under the authority of the Guna Congreso (government) within the territory. As guides and an agency for Guna Yala, we adhere to the law, requiring us to collaborate with approved Guna contractors for island accommodation and staff, as well as approved regulated transportation services within a designated network.
It is important to note that non-Guna staff members and non-Guna owned assets for commercial purposes are strictly prohibited in the islands.
Upon your arrival at the port, your journey commences with the welcoming Guna family, your hosts on the island. They will oversee all boat excursions, island accommodations, food preparation, and any included tours.
By choosing us, you actively support the local economy and create job opportunities.
Moreover, we encourage you to buy locally available items on the islands, such as water, beer, and soda, to further enhancing your contribution to the local community and its economic development.
EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY
It's important to be aware that unlike our other tours, trips to San Blas are not "Guided Tours." Not all host families are fluent in English, so we encourage you to engage with them for any assistance you may require. This interaction is an integral aspect of the Guna Yala experience.
We are dedicated to fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone, including our customers, employees, destination communities, and local partners. We maintain a strict zero-tolerance policy against any form of discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, or gender. Our goal is to promote diversity and equality in all our activities and operations, ensuring an enriching and respectful experience for all.
