Scotland luxury rail holiday
Description of Scotland luxury rail holiday
One of the most luxurious and laid-back ways to see Scotland, train holidays that are tailor-made to suit your needs take you into the heart of the Highlands and Islands. For eight days, you will not only be embarking on spectacular train journeys, but also staying at some of the country’s finest hotels, such as the 5* Inverlochy Castle Hotel in Fort William, the terminus of your first train journey – the historic and mesmeric West Highland Line from Glasgow to Fort William. Sit back and relax as you rumble your way through the wild swathes of Rannoch Moor or past Loch Lomond.
Spend some time exploring the splendid Perthshire countryside with a free day built into the itinerary, you have the chance to walk around this National Trust protected area, or perhaps you might like to explore nearby historic gems such as Blair Castle, before relaxing in your unique five-star accommodation - Fonab Castle. Your adventure continues with first-class rail travel as you head north to the Highland Capital of Inverness, where a private day-long tour awaits you.
You will then head back on the rails for a short journey to Kyle of Lochalsh, where a private transfer will whisk you over the Skye Bridge to Kinloch Lodge, your luxury accommodation for the next two nights. In Skye, you will have a day to explore and relax in the service of an expert guide who will design your day around what interests you, from the Dunvegan and Armadale castles to the famous Talisker whisky distillery. On day seven, you will have a short ferry which will transport you to Mallaig for the magical first-class journey on the world-renowned Jacobite Steam Train.
Your holiday ends in the capital, Edinburgh, which you will travel to by train from Fort William.

This holiday has been carefully-designed to allow you to explore much of Scotland, from the cities of Glasgow, Inverness and Edinburgh to rural Perthshire and even the magical Isle of Skye without a car. The accommodation chosen takes you a little off the beaten tourist track, so that you will have a more authentic experience. In each place, there are plentiful local walks, and some short trips available by local bus - we will provide suggestions and recommendations in your holiday pack, but do check the most up-to-date information with the staff at your hotel. We take the utmost care to choose local business partners who share our values and commitment to sustainable travel, preferring to work with locally-owned and managed businesses wherever possible. We carefully select these partners to ensure that they share our values of sustainable and responsible travel. All of our holiday packs include "Robert's Recommendations", our specific tips on places to visit, places to eat and places to shop locally, all of which have been researched by us, and many of which are off-the-beaten track.
We directly employ a small team of local people in Glasgow. We offer part-time and flexible working. We ensure staff undertake at least two recce visits in a year so that they have first-hand experience and knowledge of our products throughout Scotland and Ireland.
