Small group walking
Be part of a pack on your next outing. These small group walks promise fun and friendship on the trail.
Serbia
Often merely tagged onto the end of a Balkan odyssey, Serbia is rich in natural beauty and deserves to be explored in more depth.

Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

CARBON REDUCTION
This adventure focuses on slow, immersive travel through Western Serbia, reducing emissions while you explore its breathtaking landscapes. As you explore, you’ll spend most of your time in nature reserves and national parks, reducing the need for long transfers and high-emission transport. Additionally, your visit includes an educational stop at a family home in Tara National Park, where they live entirely off-grid with zero emissions and zero waste, demonstrating the potential for sustainable living. We will also provide you with advice pre-booking and travel on how to reach Serbia by train.

Every activity on this holiday is 100% human-powered, from hiking to kayaking and canyoning, giving you the chance to experience nature at its finest while keeping your carbon footprint to a minimum. We also provide tips on how to further reduce your environmental impact, such as car-sharing for transfers and using electric taxi services where available.

ENVIRONMENT & WILDLIFE
This holiday allows you to actively support Serbia’s rich biodiversity and the conservation efforts that keep these ecosystems thriving. Your trip takes place in protected natural areas.

As part of our commitment to responsible travel, we proudly operate a "Book to Give Back" scheme. This means that 1% of all trip revenues goes directly to supporting local conservation efforts. In Serbia, we’ve partnered with the Rzav Ecological Association, an NGO dedicated to protecting wild rivers like the Rzav and Una from harmful developments, including hydropower projects. This contribution is included in the cost of your trip, ensuring that every booking makes a positive difference for the environment.

Group numbers are also kept small to provide an intimate feeling and to minimise our environmental footprint.

LOCAL ECONOMY
By choosing this holiday, you’ll be helping to uplift Serbia’s rural communities. Much of the trip takes place in regions with little or no tourism, introducing much-needed income to areas facing depopulation and economic challenges. A special highlight is your stay in a homestay in a remote farming village, where your visit directly benefits the local economy, especially for the women who prepare your meals. All accommodations on this trip are locally-owned and carefully selected to ensure your stay has a meaningful impact on the local population, and you will be encouraged to buy locally-made, traditional souvenirs such as handmade woollen socks and rakija brandy.

Importantly, this trip takes place along the once-fractured (and beautiful!) borderlines of the former Yugoslavia. By visiting these areas, you’ll be helping to revive local pride, foster cultural exchange, and support peaceful tourism that promotes long-term development.

This is more than just a holiday – it’s a chance to contribute to meaningful change and help create a positive legacy for Serbia’s people and their future.

EMPLOYMENT/INCLUSIVITY/DIVERSITY
We believe in working hand-in-hand with the local population, which is why 100% of our guides and activity partners for this trip are either Serbian or long-term residents earning well above the minimum wage. During your stay, you’ll also have the opportunity to meet the National Park rangers, learning firsthand about the important conservation work they do.
