Our snowshoeing holidays & tours
Our snowshoeing holidays give you the freedom to explore your favourite landscapes or winter wish lists when they’re blanketed in snow. A little bit of weather won’t stop these tours – in fact, it enhances them, laying out serene forests bowed with snow and slopes glittering with crystallised powder. We’ll take you to remote villages, mountain cabins and wilderness retreats that welcome tourists who embrace the slower pace that gives you time to appreciate the landscapes you tread and the people you meet. You won’t be the only ones enjoying the snowy trails – there’s always the chance of spotting wolf prints pattering ahead or the shadow of a bearded vulture swooping above.

Highlights of our snowshoeing holidays & tours
Why go on a snowshoeing holiday?
Snowshoeing is a great way to explore beyond the usual trails – to a quieter winter world far away from the high-speed ski resorts. Our holidays are all about slow, thoughtful, low-impact walking that gets you plodding through powder and appreciating the magic of the mountains around you. Kitting you out with lightweight snowshoes, poles and the expertise of a mountain guide or clear, detailed route notes, our holidays give you the freedom to go walking where hikers and skiers can’t. And if there’s no or low snow? They transform into equally spectacular winter walking trips.
Where can you go snowshoeing?
Most of our holidays head to Europe, making tracks from Iceland to the Dolomites. There are similarities – the snow-silenced forests, mountain vistas, intriguing wildlife prints and the joy of having the paths to yourself. But they also have their distinct differences.
You could head for the well-marked high-alpine terrain of the Austrian Alps, where mountain huts offer warm lunches, panoramic yoga studios and al fresco hot tubs. Or hop over the border to the French Alps, where frozen lakes and larch forests decorate vistas far removed from the ski crowds of Chamonix. The Italian Dolomites are also a great pick, especially for beginners after instant access to views of the iconic Tre Cime di Lavaredo peaks and snow-fringed frozen lakes.
For something a little different, try Finland. We can take you hut-to-hut trekking in the remote north-east with experienced guides or around easy snowshoe trails that loop around forests and fells with wide-open views of clear, aurora-friendly skies. Or there’s always Romania, where paths well off the usual tourist radar come with snow-capped views of the Carpathians and villages straight out of a Christmas card.

The pros of small group snowshoeing
Our small group tours give you the expertise and confidence needed to take your eyes off the map and look at the spectacular vistas around you instead. They’re especially great for solo snowshoers and newbies, or those considering more challenging trails that require the guidance of a mountain expert. Our snowshoeing specialists will always have your safety and enjoyment in mind too, tracking snow and weather conditions; even easy routes can be a challenge when the snow gets too deep or twilight arrives earlier than expected. You’ll also get to hike with fellow adventurers who love snow as much as you do – and it’s a case of the more eyes the merrier when looking for winter wildlife.
