1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Traveling as a family to a new place, seeing new sights, learning history and traditions, enjoying new experiences.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

As usual, the trip leader makes the difference - our was excellent

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

The itinerary included stops at, e.g., local music school, small family restaurants, etc regarding environmental impacts, not sure given the kms traveled, but all hotels had green initiatives

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Justin Choi as our trip leader was excellent. His knowledge of history, and his ability to communicate it in perfect English and make it interesting, were outstanding. While the trip was marketed as a small group (2-15), we had 17. But all were mature, experienced travelers, and all participated in all activities, making for a good dynamic. The itinerary was a whirlwind, with lots of kms covered, and wish there could have been more time at certain stops, but that was entirely expected. Thoroughly enjoyable; would definitely recommend.

Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

CARBON REDUCTION
We recognize the significant impact of tourism on the environment, from CO2 emissions and deforestation to animal welfare, reef destruction, and soil erosion, and we are determined to make a positive difference in the world.

This 5-day journey uses shared transportation as you circle the country, visiting the highlights in both the southern and northern regions. You are not taking any domestic flights or private cars.

Additional to the local transportation the group will be taking during the trip, walking constitutes a significant aspect of exploring the destinations. This reduces CO2 emissions per person.

The Korean cuisine consistently offers a menu accommodating for vegetarians.

ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
The included entrance fees contribute to the preservation of Seoraksan National Park, which is home to numerous rare species. UNESCO designated this national park a Biosphere Preservation District in 1982.

South Korea employs an efficient recycling system that effectively reduces waste and optimizes resource utilization. This encompasses practices such as reusing, repairing, refurbishing, and recycling materials and products. Simultaneously, waste is regarded as a valuable resource, leading to the minimization of waste volume. We educate our travelers about these practices to encourage their implementation during their trip.

The accommodations you stay at during this trip, are putting efforts into taking steps every day to minimize the impact of their operations, working to reduce the environmental footprint and preserve natural resources by being mindful of their energy consumption, which helps cut down on CO2 emissions. Likewise, they're focused on minimizing hotel waste, while also boosting recycling and composting efforts.

People

LOCAL ECONOMY
The accommodations you stay at during this trip, work closely with the community, and make social contributions to the region. You'll be lodging at a Korean-owned hotel in Gyeongju.

As you journey, you'll get the chance to check out local shops in various cities and villages, which helps support the local economy. You will also have the opportunity to explore cooperative markets like Jagalchi Market, thereby contributing to the local economy.

Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to explore the Andong Hahoe local village that offers a deep immersion into the captivating culture accompanied by local residents who give the place life and the sensation of a working community. It's worth noting that while residents are accustomed to visitors, it's essential to respect their privacy.

EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY
The majority of our staff, including guides, are local individuals from the country who can provide insights into Korean culture.
We also ensure that our staff receive at least the minimum wage and are covered by employment insurance.

We are dedicated to creating a friendly and inclusive atmosphere for customers, employees, destination communities, and local operators. This includes implementing a strict zero-tolerance policy for any form of racial, ethnic, religious, or gender-based discrimination in all their activities or operations.
