It’s hard to single out one thing. We enjoyed wonderful accommodations, especially the cottage on Dalaro. The island hikes were all great, especially the section on Uto. When you don’t know the region or the language and you’ve never done a walking tour, it’s a real leap of faith to throw yourself on the mercy of a stranger to ensure you can get where you are going, have fun doing it and not worry too much. Carmen created an itinerary and experience that we won’t forget. I can’t give enough praise to her. Read full reviewReviewed on 18 Sep 2023 by Graham Rose

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.
Planet
All our trips are about enjoying and experiencing the natural and cultural beauty of the region, in a respectful and considerate way. Our trips are only run with small groups, most often from two people to six people, to ensure that impact on the environment is a minimum at all times, and the most personal and rich experience can be had by all.We are a member of the Svenska Ekoturismföreningen (Swedish Ecotourism Association) which works towards an improved tourism which protects and takes responsibility for our delicate natural and cultural environment. Our company beliefs reflect this vision.
As our trips are self-guided, we make extra efforts to provide travellers with as much information about the local area as possible, including information about bird, animal and plantlife as well as historical and cultural information. This ensures that, even without a guide, we can inform travellers about the region. With additional knowledge, travellers can go one step further to protecting the environment.
We take responsibility of ensuring that rubbish is handled accordingly, both in the countryside and in the office, with a developed sorting system. The use of paper is spared with all marketing made online to avoid the production of own brochures. Travellers are encouraged to recycle as much travel literature as possible that they are provided with at the start of the trip.
People
Our aim is always to promote and support the local community. We wholeheartedly support the local economy - our guests want to experience the genuine region in which they are travelling, and our aim is to ensure it is seen and enjoyed in its authentic state.
Encounters with the locals is a fundamental aspect of our trips, and we therefore make all efforts to use suppliers from the area. We encourage travellers to visit locally-owned restaurants & cafes, for example on Fjärdlång or Ornö - these islands offer small-scale businesses and every extra customer is greatly appreciated. Over the years we have developed excellent relationships with the local suppliers.
We prefer to use accommodation that is smaller and more personal and is run locally. In Stockholm we use a privately owned chain of four boutique hotels. In Dalarö we use a mix of small cottages owned by locals.
We are proud to make use of the new North/South boat line that is going through a trial period in the Stockholm archipelago. Our guests have helped to boost numbers on certain routes and helped to justify these routes. Island locals have expressed their gratitude for our guests.
Our trips would quite simply not be the same without the support of the local community.
