Travel Flight Free:
Travel by Ferry to Ireland, the options are Holyhead to Dublin or Pembroke to Rosslare, with either Stena Line or Irish Ferries. From either port in Ireland you would the need a train connection to Nenagh in Co Tipperary, which is about 25 mins from our cottages. We often organise a taxi or we pick up guests ourselves if that works out. Alternatively there are good coach connections to Nenagh and also our local small town, Borrisokane. A lot of guests are now using ferry and car options which works out better than flying and if they have an electric car, there are a lot more charging points available.

Planet
We have recently installed a large solar array on our hay barn to provide electricity to our house and visitor group space. We have native woodlands which we planted 25 years ago and are creating other spaces for nature and biodiversity. All energy costs are monitored and we use a Green Energy supplier and all heating has modern controls to reduce wastage and unnecessary use.We provide an EV charging point for guests and we use EV and electric bikes for all our business.
The cottages provide an income which allows us to bring up our family on a 6th generation family farm. All labour and inputs sourced locally as much as possible. Guest are encouraged to take part in local life such as attending local shows and support other local enterprises such as restaurants, craft shops etc.
In 2016 we won a Gold Medal at the Irish Responsible Travel Awards for local sourcing and we are currently working on our Sustainable Travel Certification with Sustainable Tourism Network. We are also participating in a EU Regenerative Tourism Programme
During the summer months there are local tradional music sessions in the pub where guests are welcome to join in and contribute their talents
We have a recycling system in place for glass, cardboard, food waste etc. The cottages are insulated to a high standard and we have used non toxic paints and water based varnishes. We restored two old derelict buildings dating back before the 1860's and recycled a lot of materials in the building process.
People
As people living and working in our local community we are really aware of the need for rural areas to work together to counter the loss of jobs, population and services. We are active members of local sporting and arts groups and believe that local shops, businesses, food outlets etc need our support and the support of our guests.With this in mind we network with local businesses and services and encourage guests to spend as much as they can in local shops. restaurants etc in the realisation that money spent locally, stays locally. We are involved in local festivals and events and encourage our guests to take part
We encourage our guests to 'live like a local' and to engage with the local community, which is very welcoming.
