Every time a customer books one of our holidays and opts in to our Trip for a Trip scheme, we organise a day trip for a disadvantaged young person somewhere around the world to see their local tourist sites, often for the first time.

October 2025:
19 children visited Piatra Craiului National Park in central Romania in October 2025. This is a protected area of karst mountains in the Southern Carpathians with dramatic scenery.

Journal of a typical day:

The teenagers were picked up at 10:00am from Budila village, where the center is based, before being driven to Zarnesti town. They then spent some time at the Visitor Center of Piatra Craiului National Park followed by an hours walk in the epic Zarnesti Gorges. They then had a lunch, made with local produce, at a local guesthouse in Magura village and finally another hour long walk in the village of Magura before heading home around 4.00pm.

About our partner organisation: Firm Foundations Romania (FFR) is committed to caring for and supporting the Roma community in Romania by offering access to education, tangible resources, and the love of God. FFR runs educational programs for over 150 kids, with ages from 3 to 15 years old.

On the 13th of January 2024, 8 teenagers from Budila village accompanied by three volunteers enjoyed a wonderful trip to Piatra Craiului National Park in Romania with lunch at a local guesthouse in Magura village.
