CARBON REDUCTIONOur trips are designed to create positive impacts on the communities, wildlife, and environments we visit. We follow the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) criteria and the UN World Tourism Organisation’s (UNWTO) Global Code of Ethics for Tourism.
On this Africa journey, from Morocco to Guinea-Bissau, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Togo, Benin, and Ghana there are no domestic flights used, reducing emissions. We encourage travellers to estimate the environmental impact of their international flights and, where possible, choose sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) or certified carbon offsets.
Throughout the tour, we minimise our carbon footprint. Local food is sourced for meals in Morocco (oases of Mhamid, Icht), Senegal (fishing villages near Lac Retba), and Guinea-Bissau (Bijagos Archipelago). Locally managed boats are used for island visits, such as Bissagos and Ganvié. Vegan and vegetarian options are available on request.
ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
Our tours prioritise environmental responsibility and wildlife protection. Local experts guide each excursion, ensuring minimal impact.
For example, your Sahara desert expedition in Morocco supports local nomadic communities and ecosystems by providing economic alternatives to resource exploitation. Revenue from tourism supports anti-poaching patrols in Sierra leone, habitat restoration in Guinea Bissau, and scientific research. In Senegal and Mauritania, trips to Djoudj National Park and the Adrar Massif promote bird and wildlife conservation while supporting local eco-guides.
We eliminate plastic where possible, using reusable bags, recycling bottles, and encouraging travellers to bring reusable water bottles to reduce single-use plastics.

LOCAL ECONOMYOur tours are designed to generate meaningful economic benefits for the communities we visit while providing an enriching experience for our travellers. By choosing locally owned accommodation, expert guides, and community-led activities, your visit directly supports livelihoods across the region.
In Morocco, staying in locally run desert camps near Mhamid and visiting artisan villages ensures that tourism revenue supports nomadic communities and traditional crafts. In Senegal, excursions to Lac Retba and the Saloum Delta rely on local fishing guides and community-run lodges, directly supporting local livelihoods.
Across Guinea-Bissau, Sierra Leone, and Liberia, visits to the Bijagos Archipelago, Tiwai Island, and Sapo National Park provide employment for local guides, boat operators, and hospitality staff, while also funding community initiatives. In Ivory Coast, participating in cultural experiences in the villages near Taï National Park and the Zébra Forest supports traditional crafts and village led tourism. In Togo and Benin, engaging with local artisans and markets sustains skills in pottery, weaving, and mask-making. Finally, in Ghana, exploring Accra’s craft markets and Volta Region villages ensures tourism directly benefits local producers, guides, and small businesses.
EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY, AND DIVERSITY
Tourism employs millions worldwide and has the power to support equitable communities. Our local partners offer fair wages, health and life insurance, and safe working conditions. Employment opportunities include rangers, guides, lodge staff, porters, and artisans, from the Sahara desert in Morocco to mask-making communities in Ivory Coast and Togo.
Programs led by women, cultural experiences, and hospitality training initiatives promote gender equality and social inclusion, ensuring tourism contributes positively to both society and heritage preservation. From witnessing the Baga Nimba masks in Guinea to the Zaouli dances in Ivory Coast, your visits empower local custodians of culture while sustaining their traditions.
